Hi. I was wondering what different entrees are currently being offered at lunch vs. dinner at Akershus. I recently saw a post saying that the lunch entrees had been changed and are currently Kjorkaker, an open-faced chicken sandwich, a salmon burger, venison sausage on white bean stew, or sauteed chicken breast. The post also said that more Norwegian dishes particularly fish dishes were being offered at dinner, but I can't find any information on what the dinner entrees currently are. Has anyone dined there recently?:confused3 Pictures and reviews would be great too :flower3:

lunch or dinner? I want to dine their with my dd 4 to see the princesses but unsure which sounds better. Btw, is the food good?

I can only speak for dinner, but Akershus is one of my family's favorites. The food is outstanding. You have the cold buffet to start with meats, cheeses, veggies, etc. and then you have wonderful dinner entrees such as salmon and traditional meatloaf (I'd need to look up the Norwegian name). Then they have fantastic family-style desserts -- three desserts shared from a single plate.

The dinner package includes an 8X10 and 4 4X6 photos with a princess; in our experience it's been Belle. The photos are delivered to your table during your meal. At the table, princesses we've seen on different visits include Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Ariel, and Jasmine.

I was NOT impressed with the lunch selection there, didn't go for dinner, but I wouldn't use my TS credit for that place for lunch again. Getting the photo with Belle made it worth it though. I had open face chicken sandwich on sourdough, it was just mediocre. They do have an all you can eat appetizer buffet though.

Are the desserts all you can eat at lunch or just the cold buffet bar??.....I have four kids going and I know I have a sweet tooth. :rolleyes1

We went for lunch two months ago and had a great time. We were impressed with the food, as I had checked out the menus before going and knew what to expect.

For dinner you start with a cold appetizer buffet that could be a meal in itself it was so good. Then they had about 6 selections of Norwegian foods. I had the salmon. My mom and husband had the kjattkake (I think I spelled that right). After dinner they bring out a plate of 3 desserts that you all just eat family style. We went Wed night and loved it. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Do you remember what the other dinner entrees were, if you were there recently? I'm just wondering if the dinner menu also changed since the lunch menu changed. I hear a lot about the salmon but nothing else. :confused3

I remember a mahi mahi and a lamb selection plus some pasta but I don't remember what they had mixed in the pasta. One thing I did like here is that the kids menu had ravioli which was a nice change of pace from chicken nuggets and hot dogs.

I looked this up and this sounds about right (http://allears.net/menu/menu_nor.htm)

I've been twice for lunch, most recently in January, and both times were excellent. I had the grilled veggie stuffed pasta - it was so delicious! Definitely one of the best meals I had all trip - it tasted really fresh and rich. My mom had the chicken breast dish (not sandwich) and had no complaints. I think it's a great use of TS credit - especially with the photo included!

In January we ate there twice for lunch because we enjoyed the food so much. We wanted something different. The princesses were just an aded bonus. The food was good even for the pickiest eater. My son loved it and he is very picky. The desserts are awesome. It is definitely worth a visit.

Ok so the dinner options are still the same as the menus from 2009, thanks. :goodvibes Now to decide which menu looks better since I have no clue as to whether the lunch or dinner menu has more authentic Norwegian dishes on it. The cold bar sounds great at either time.
