I have to say we did not like the dinner at all a few years ago. Norwegian fare is just not for us. My wife and I ended up eating chicken nuggets and other food from the kids' buffet. We do breakfast there now, which is great for everyone. Family style, I believe.
We love the food there (it's actually our favourite restaurant in WDW), but we tend to like European food -- somewhat spicy but not hot spicy. If you like things like swedish meatballs you will probably be ok (since Sweden is right next door to Norway )
I'd pick lunch -- the day can get really long when you have late dinners reserved and that could really spoil the magic. Lunch and dinner are both Norwegian food, with some American fare on the kids menu.
Well we're from Louisiana originally so we love spice... We've just never had European food lol I have all 3 reserved right now... Hopefully I make my mind up within the next few days lol
There is a mushroom stuffed pasta dish for dinner that is pretty yummy. In fact they have "Americanized" the menu a lot. Doesn't make me happy but I have the cold buffet with the fabulous pickled herring and the caramel cheese!!!
They have salmon, trout, chicken, meatloaf, lots of dishes that are familiar. They have American kid friendly food on the kids menu and the Princess meet and greet is really great. To me, dinner has a little more variety and is a little more expensive.
We have reservations for lunch here in May for two adults and a 2 year old. When we went in December to Garden Grill, they brought the 2 year old a meal (drumstick, mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries) at no cost.
Do they do that at Akershus as well or will she just share with us? I know this post is not about CRT but does anyone know the response to that same question there as well?
At Akershus there is a full buffet as well that comes along with your meal. Even the most particular children can typically find something! (My nephew - who eats barely anything - ate rolls with butter and I think had plain pasta - my 5 YO can make a meal just from the cold cuts, cheese and fruit on the buffet)
DH and I have enjoyed the food at both Akershus and CRT. We LOVE the Norwegian meatballs!
The dinner and lunch menus at Akershus are very comparable, so I would say whenever you think is a better time to eat for your little ones would be fine - it's often a bit of wait once you get checked in, get your photo, get seated, etc. so if your kids will do better with that at lunch then by all means go then. We go to Akershus every trip and it's so fun to look at our Belle photos and see how our girls have grown!
Hi, we have an ADR for dinner in June and I'm hoping my dd 12 can order from the kids menu? I think this should be ok, we are on the ddp and have read that in most restaurants they will give a slightly larger size kids meal for an adult TS. But what I see mentioned is 3 different desserts served for all the table to share? Neither of my dd's 12 & 9 would eat these, so is it ok to request a scoop of ice cream for them? I'm not bothered about dessert myself.
TIA
