Akershus lunch experience?

BF and I aren't really breakfast eaters, we prefer an early lunch. I've read a lot on here about the Akershus breakfast, but has anyone had their lunch there? Can you tell me anything about the food? Is it crowded? Would you recommend it? We're really not familiar with Norwegian food, but have open minds and empty stomachs!

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

We did it last year. It was DH my two kids and me. We all enjoyed it the food was very good. I had the salmon and soup, DH had the Traditional Kottate sp?, DDs had pizza and a hot dog. The cold bar was very good also. We plan to go again in september.

Thank you so much for your response...it was the only ressie I'm "iffy" on. I had read in a guidebook that the lunch was one of the author's favorite meals, but aside from that, haven't heard very much. I think we'll be brave and try it!

Of course, I haven't even made my ADRs yet....so IF I get a ressie is the only issue now.....

It's expensive because of the princesses. So if you are going there only for the food, you may want to reconsider.

That said, I thought the lunch was good. There is an all you care to eat cold lunch buffet (which does has some Norwegian items, like cold herring), followed by a family style lunch where each person picks a main course off of a short menu. I think most people should be able to find one or two items on the menu that they would like. The dessert was a plate of several items for the table to share.

The decor is nice, too.
