akershus for adults only?

Title says it all, we have never done a character meal, and are on a quest to eat around the world (only missing China and Norway). Ran into a couple at the airport last year who made me think that it wouldn't be totally weird for two adults to try a character meal.

Also how is the food? Has it been totally dumbed down, or does it still offer some ethnic flair? This would be for dinner.

We went for dinner as a couple and thought it was outstanding. Let me put it this way: the food is ethnic enough that people around here are constantly complaining that it was "too weird." I don't know Norwegian food, but it was definitely not standard American food, if that helps (lots of seafood, and the desserts weren't as sweet as we're used to).

There's a review in my signature. We both had the mustard-glazed salmon, which was outstanding (and I'm not really a fan of salmon). We liked the appetizer buffet a lot, loved the salmon and the roasted potatoes and carrots it was served with, and fought over the desserts.

DH and I are always just 2 adults at Disney. We have done many character meals including Norway (more than once) the food is good (we usually go for breakfast though) and the character interaction is whatever you want.

If you just want to stand and take a picture with the character, they will do a quick stop and move on. If you are not interested in character interaction at all just tell the CM that you are there for the food and no interest in the characters, they will just walk by and wave and move on. I have also seen adult only parties have a grand time with character interaction (so they should if they want to they paid for it).

We have never felt out of place with no children. I say go and even if you find that you do not like the food it is one more experience to check off of your eating around the world plan.

DH and I, 50+ both of us, often do character breakfasts (Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe, Chef Mickey's, etc.). We did do Akershus for lunch during my 50th birthday celebratioin as DH wanted to try the food (we didn't go for the princesses). Unfortunately, neither one of us liked the food and were very disappointed in our meals.

Great comments, I like some unusual food, and am willing to try everything once. I like some of the princess, might get some photos...

I read your trip report, and I love salmon (I am the only one in my family that likes salmon, and am classified as "weird") that sounds great.

I don't know about the food, but I don't think it would be weird for you to go without kids. Do it! Why not?????
