I wasn't sure if I should post this under Dining thread or DDP thread.
Can someone tell me if the buffet appetizer is included in the TS credit on DDP? We'll be going for dinner, and I thought appetizers weren't included in DDP, but wasn't sure on this restaurant.

Also can someone tell me, how is the food served family style? Does that mean DF and I pick 1 entrée to share? Sorry for the cluelessness, I've never been, and can't seem to find the answer online. Thank you!

Haven't been here in awhile (and never on the DDP), but only breakfast is served family style (they bring a plate of eggs, bacon, potatoes to the table and you share) while the other meals each person order their own meal (you don't share)

Included is the buffet, which is salads, deli meats and cheeses. It's nothing to write home about, IMO.
You order an entree. I've had the Traditional Kjøttkake (twice), which I really enjoyed very much.
Desserts are served as a sampler on a plate, and are pretty solid.

I think the Princess interactions here are better than at CRT. There's a bit more time spent, and there's also a parade that goes around the restaurant that the children can take part in.

At lunch and dinner, every Guest’s royal feast begins with a “Taste of Norway”—featuring the finest Scandinavian seafood, imported cheeses, cured and sliced meats, and a vast selection of salads and fruits. Then, take your pick from a rotating menu of hot entrées, including pan-seared salmon, oven-roasted chicken breast and a Norwegian meatball dish called Kjøttkake.

Children’s menu options include such familiar offerings as pizza, pasta with grilled chicken and salmon with vegetables and fruit salad. Be sure to save room for The Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate too—a platter of 3 delectable desserts served family-style for the perfect ending to your feast.

We had dinner here in December on the dining plan. We throughly enjoyed our meal. The Taste of Norway appetizer salad buffet was right up our alley. I took very small portions of things until I found the things I liked and then I went back up. Some of the items were very delicious. Our entrees were picked from the menu and also were very good. The desserts were served family style and were very nice. We were offered more if we wanted them. Our server was excellent! The children both enjoyed the character interaction. It was on our list to do again some day.

You omitted the herrings and smoked salmon that they've had in the past. Does that mean they're no longer on the buffet? Or just not your thing?

Thanks all! A few more questions, once our entrees come out, can we still go back up to the buffet?

And, DF is not into the character interaction, how interactive is it? Is it weird (or rude) for us to just smile and say hello but that's it? I'm all for chatting and even getting photos, but he's being :scared: about it.

Yes you can go up to the buffet any time you want. I went back more than once! The characters are excellent and tune into your wishes very quickly. They will be there for a short stay or a longer one depending on what you want. And no it is not rude.

Are they back to having the apps on the buffet, or do they still serve a little sampler platter at your table (like they did for us last August)?

We were there 4 days ago. The appetizers are on the buffet. It included 'regular" iceberg lettuce salad, more traditional Norwegian type salads, pickled herring, smoked mackerel and salmon, poached salmon, cold cut meats, cheeses, I think some breads as well. I had the meatballs, which were good. My dh had the seafood soup, which he was not impressed with. Ds had the potato filled pasta, which he didn't love, but which I thought was divine. Dd had an adult sized portion of the kid mac and cheese, since she had an adult DDP. The desserts were shared, 3 large ones to a plate. We had two plates for a table of 7. FWIW, you stand and take a picture with Belle when you first come in, then Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, and Cinderella came by the table. At the end, a CM came by to make sure that every princess had stopped by the table.
