My family visited Disney last year in May (first time for all of 3 us -- DD will be 5 this year) We really loved the breakfast at Akershus last time -- fantastic princess interaction and pretty decent food, for a buffet (we're not buffet fans in "real" life, but happily deal with it for the joy of watching the kiddo light up for the princesses/characters).

Headed back again this May, and I'm thinking about doing lunch at Akershus this time b/c I'd like to try the breakfast at Ohana and I only want one character bkfast.

How's the lunch at Akershus? What sorts of food are offered at the lunch buffet? And is there a difference in the princess interaction when compared with breakfast?

On a related note, how's the bkfast at O'hana? Is that still with Lilo and Stitch?

Thanks!

have only eaten at akershus for dinner, and it was good. one word of warning, STAY AWAY FROM THE RICE CREAM! :) it sounds very similar to a wonderful dessert called ICE CREAM, but it is light years away......(as im writing this, i realize im making that face with my tongue stuck out that kids make when they taste something bad).

the REAL reason i replied to you message is to vote 10000% for Ohana breakfast! we love it. the food is good, and the atmosphere is fantastic. in fact, on EVERY trip, at the very least, we make it our breakfast on our going home day. and sometimes we eat there a multiple times on a trip. the characters are great and the juice is crazzzzy good!

I have to agree! Love Love LOVE o'hana!!! My family also eats at the Poly multiple times throughout our trips! Breakfast is nice because it IS served family style...Much easier for my husband & I to help our 4 kids! Yes it is Lilo and Stitch, Mickey and Minnie! Love the hawaiian atmosphere. Very relaxed feeling and wasn't as crowded when we went as say Chef Mickey's. Food is great! Love the bread!

Definate stop for bfast on our upcoming trip!!!!

The Akerhaus experience is similar no matter what meal you choose. We love it there! For lunch, they have a cold appitizer buffet with salad, lunch meat, fruits, ect. It is very good. You will choose an entree from the menu. The choice were good and we really enjoyed the food. They then bring a family style dessert platter for the family to share. Akerhaus is a must do for us every trip.

We have never been to Ohana for breakfast, but have you considered it for dinner. It is our number one favorite WDW restaurant.

Same here - only been to Akershus for dinner, but Ohana for breakfast is great for all the reasons the previous posters mentioned.

We were just at Ohana earlier this month - we usually go for dinner but switched to breakfast. The characters are great - Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto (Minnie wasn't there, but they should add her - then it would be perfect!) The atmosphere is fun but not chaotic. The characters did a parade with the kids, the view from the window seats is very nice in the morning, the service was outstanding, and the food was very good. And this means quite a lot coming from me because I usually don't care much for breakfast - I'm usually happy with my coffee and then an early lunch ADR!

We'll be back in a couple weeks, and highly recommend it!

Thanks everyone! Starting to think the food at O'Hana for bkfast might be too adventurous for my "basic eater" DD (5).

Then again, she LOVED her Lilo and Stitch interaction at MK last year, so maybe.....

lol.

Indecision, thy name is Bigwino.

What does she usually like to eat? One of our three boys is a relatively picky eater, but the Ohana options work for him. It's just plain eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes (they didn't have any peppers or anything in them - looked like steak fries), plain fresh fruit (we had grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew), plain biscuits, bread (that was pineapple - so maybe not), plain mickey waffles and beverages. You can request regular juice if you don't care for the Ohana juice. If you look at the menu, they give everything a Polynesian name, but it's pretty basic breakfast food. Hope that helps a little!

she eats eggs (sometimes), and fruit. So I guess she'd have enough.
The only staple items that we really count on though are bagels, yogurt and cereal. But it's just one morning and I'm sure we'd get by if the characters are worth it. Sounds like it's fun!

Ok, so perhaps I've made a decision... Akershus (sp?) for lunch and O'hana for bkfast.

Thank you SOOO much for taking the time! Very kind of you to help me off my fence! :)

Whenever your next trip is planned, I hope you have a wonderful time!
