when going on the safari ride it’s best to get a fast pass and then go to the animal trail right next to it and look at the animals. By the time your done your safari time should be up.
 
if I’m understanding you question correctly if you don’t have a FP prior to going to the park it really will depend on the time you are get on my Disney experience app when in the park my suggestion is once you were done with the first three fast passes is to book the Safari. Select a time that will allow you to then go on the trail (assuming one by Safari) before or after the Safari. It’s really your preference - walk first then sit or sit then walk. Depending on availability you may not have a choice.
