AK Villas Schematics

Thanks for posting the link. All I have to say is, "Holy cow - those are going to be some seriously long hallways!!!"

:scared:

I got an empty page- no schematic.

It's about 25 to 30 pages, may take a few minutes to download the entire file. It took my computer about 5 to 6 minutes for download.

The South Florida Water Management District has the schematics and blueprints of the proposed Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. Looks like the Villas will be built near the sunset savannah. I found this info on mouseplanet.

Here's the link: http://my.sfwmd.gov/cmsdk/content/i...nPlansEngineering/061214-5_AllPlans_87268.pdf

Thanks for posting the link. That certainly looks like the villas are within walking distance to the main resort!

Wow, it's going to be huge.
Yes it is! Maybe they should rename the main resort as The Lodge at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas! :)

BTW, if I were an AKL regular, I'm not sure I'd want to look out on my savannah view and see DVC villas across the savannah from me!

Wow! That's some docuement. That place looks like it's going to be huge! It's hard to make sense of the pool area and other amenities. Did anyone else get a better look at the pool area?

The whole "walking distance" thing was nutty. Didn't make any sense at all.

Those plans certainly fall into line with what the animal keeper CM told me in December, no more Sunset Savannah.

AKL does rather look like an after thought, compared to the villas. Wonder what Eisner would make of it?

okay what happen to - adding to AKL won't be a problem.

looks like it is a WHOLE lot bigger than the original area would allow - much, much, much better location - savannah view!:cool1:

Well I see the large pool area to the left(west) with a large twirly slide coming into the bottom. There is also a small slide into the same area. The pool appears to be zero entry with 2 sets of stairs. There are two hot tubs. I have no idea what that area is in the middle. Maybe a water play area - splash area??

There are two pool buildings. The one at the top looks like a pool bar (looks like seating around a circular bar) with small bathrooms in the back. The larger building at the bottom has two larger pool bathroom/changing rooms in half of the building. I don't know what the purpose would be of other half. Possibly a community hall or a pool restaurant.

There seems to be a lot of parking lot views - I'd say 1/4th. Then another 1/8th are pool view rooms. That's 3/8ths without a savana view.

And if you're planning on walking to the AKL from AKV - better put on your hiking shoes - it won't be a quick trip. It's about 2800 feet from lobby to lobby (over half a mile) using the scale on the drawings, and my highly scientifically calibrated mailbox key and compruter monitor. I mashed together pages 39 and 40 to get this:

I still plan on adding on. I can see the need for the 11 month window to get a lodge studio.

I'm not seeing the small the slide? Where is it exactly?

I'm wondering if the villas are more like OKW and stretching from front to back like that, so villas would be easy access to parking, but also all have savannah views. It looks like that might be the case from the photo posted.

Diane...I thought the same thing. That would certainly make sense and provide a lot less headache for the front desk!

Gee, for us BWV veterans, that's no big deal! Just a "walk in the park"! ;)

lisareniff,
Thanks for posting the pool and explaining a little more. By your description, I do see the slide, stairs and zero entry. Don't see the smaller slide. With all that "land" and the popularity of Stromalong Bay, why not do the same/similar at VAKL? It would seem a great selling point and might encourage people who might be on the fence due to location, into buying? Anyone else agree or have an explantion--one that I might be missing?

I HOPE this is the case, but it looks to me like there are indoor hallways connecting the sections, which to me indicates that there will be rooms on both sides of the building.

That place looks huge! I am excited about this being developed. I refused to spend the money on a room with a Savannah view, but now being DVC members I could see staying there. BTW, stayed at AKL with a standard view and still had an amazing time. Lots of public places to sit and watch the animals.

thanks grim - I can actually understand it now.

definitely looks like halls - besides the only way they could do an OKW or SSR building would be with open halls - not happening with animals around.
