We will have our vehicle and will be at AK in the morning, hopping to MK mid day and then back to AK later.
Will using our car be the quickest way to get from one park to another, or can we get there quicker using Disney Transportation?

I would just take the bus between AK and MK. While driving may be quicker it, might not be in the end depending on wait times for the ferry/monorail. You have to factor in time to get to your car, drive to the TTC, park the car, and the take the ferry or monorail to MK and the same (but in reverse) to get back to AK.

The general rule of thumb is to allow about 45 minutes when using Disney transportation.

The wait time for the bus from AK -> MK -> AK could be fast or alittle slow depending on if you just missed a bus or not

Bus to Mk good point = it bypasses the Ticket and trans, you get dropped off right at the Magic Kingdom main gate, you skip the monorail/ferry boat ride

Bus from MK -> AK = waiting for bus ...

Car ride back to AK from MK = waiting for monorail/ferry boat ride to Ticket trans + wait for tram ride to car

If I were doing the car it would be because you might change plans to stop off somewhere, maybe the Poly for a Dole Whip, Hess station for a snack or gas fillup

Thanks for the replies. Good info. I didn't think about the fact that the buses would bypass the TTC at MK.

We have breakfast at AK at 9, and then hope to hit the 1st FOTLK show at 10:30. Then hop to MK to see the Once upon a Christmas time Parade, following hopping back to AK to see the Jingle Jungle Parade.

Since our normal days at these parks are next Tuesday-Thursday, we won't be able to see the Christmas version of these Parades and the FOTLK show is closing on Sunday.
Hoping there is time to squeeze these in. If not, we will just do Breakfast, FOTLK and then hop to MK for the 3:30 parade instead of the 12:30 one and skip the AK parade.

Sorry to inform you that the MK Christmas parade has completed it's run for this season. The "Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade" is now running, with it's last performance on Saturday 1/4. Beginning Sunday, there will be no afternoon parade at MK until the “Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade” debuts, targeted for Spring 2014.

Thanks for the clarification. I have been using the travel agent calendar and it was showing the parade as the Christmas Parade. Either way, the parade won't be there when go back later in the week.

I am surprised they didn't just keep the Christmas parade going through this weekend instead of switching back to the non Christmas parade for only a couple of days before ending it. Actually, I thought that is what I read they were going to do back in the fall. Oh well..
