AK to DTD?

We are staying at WL and I've read on these boards that it takes an hour to get to DTD. We will be at AK that day. Is there a bus from AK to DTD? If so, about how long would that take?

There are no buses between the parks and DTD, only from the resorts and waterparks. The bus to AKL is a short ride you could pick up a DTD bus at the AKL resort.

The ride to AK is only like 7-8 mins but you can wait up to 20 mins for a bus. Also, once you get to the AKL you will have to wait for another bus to DTD which can take another 20 mins or so. I would say that an hour is not an unreasonable amount of time to expect.

OK, we'll try that then. We are staying at WL and they say it takes at least an hour from there so I'd rather go directly from the park if I can talk everyone into it. Thanks again! I've never been to SSR so that wold be a new experience! We can walk fron there? How far?

I don't know why it would take "at least an hour" to get from WL to DTD. You might have to wait up to 20 minutes for a bus (or not; you might get lucky and a bus comes right away). The bus ride itself should then take about 15 minutes. Is there something I am missing that makes it take over an hour to get to DTD from WL?

OP was asking about getting from Animal Kingdom (park) to DTD - this can easily take an hour if unlucky: there are no direct buses linking DTD with any of the parks, too many people tried parking for free at DTD then taking buses to the parks.... you need a bus from the park to a resort, then resort to DTD - factor in the two possible 20minute+ waits for buses and that's where your hour+ journey time comes from

OP wanted to know if there were buses from the parks to DTD because she had heard it takes over an hour from WL. She repeated that statement (about the hour from WL to DTD) in the portion of her post which I quoted in my response. I can understand why it might take an hour from AK, but that is not what OP said twice and not what I commented on.

It helps to read the whole post and not just the headline. In the OP's original post, she stated that she had heard that it takes over an hour to get from WL to DTD. She stated that same thing again in a subsequent post. She wanted to avoid that hour long trip, so she asked how to get to DTD from AK. She never said anything about it taking over an hour to get from AK to DTD. My post questioned the original premise of the hour to get from WL to DTD.

There are 6 of us so I think it would be a bit more expensive maybe but from what it sounds like, darned well worth it!! Then we could go back to WL and freshen up a bit and then head over.

I don't know why but another thread a week or less ago was complaining that WL buses take an hour either to DTD or to the water parks. We are not doing the water parks this time unless it really gets hot and then I have old tickets I'll use for that. This may well be our last trip. Lots of other places to see!!
