We're leaving for DW June 3 and I recently found out I was pregnant. I'm looking for information on Kali River and Kilimanjaro Safari, both are on the official list to avoid when pregnant, but I don't remember being that bad. Some old threads suggested the safari is OK if you ride in the front, the back is bumpy. My doctor says assuming I feel like it Spash Mountain is OK for me, just not roller coasters, etc., which I wouldn't have gone on anyway being motion sensitive. Can someone compare the Kali River drop to Splash for me, or any other information on why it should avoided.

My past pregnancies I never felt seriously nausous, but instead felt moderly crummy constantly for four month, so I don't want to postpone the trip.

If you feel up to doing Splash Mt, you could certainly do the Safari and Kali River Rafts.

I agree. Kilimanjaro Safaris is like a bumpy car ride. If your doc has given you permission for Splash like mine did, then there is no reason to avoid it or Kali River Rapids. I love the fact that I am still able to experience these with my kids even while I am pregnant.

I rode the Safaris when I was 4 months pregnant and everything was fine.

I rode the safari at 6 months pregnant, and I loved it.No problems at all!!:teeth:

i rode the safari and kali when i was only 8wks pg. the kali 'drop' is really lame :)

i'm pregnant again and i'll be 24wks along when we leave in two weeks...i plan to do both of these rides again.

i did not ride splash however, due to the drop.

Ooh I always get nervous when this topic comes up. I don't want to be the harbinger of bad news or rain on anyone's parade, but here goes anyway:

From deb's site :

I have to take issue with going on Splash Mountain when pregnant. It is not just bumps that make a ride unadvisable for pregnat women, but the acceleration. The G-forces on the body, both the mother and babies. Small blood vessels in the brain and other parts of the body can be damaged. This is information that was given to my daughter when she was pregnant and going to WDW.

JMHO, better to be safe than sorry in these situations. While others may have gone on these rides and been ok, it's your baby and your body that will be in the hospital if anything bad happens.

In the end, when you're holding your beautiful little one in your arms, those rides you missed won't mean a thing. Just another perspective. Hope I didn't offend.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and was just there last week. I did the safari ride but not Splash Mountain or Kali. This isn't a big deal for us since someone has to sit with my 2 year old anyway. There is so much you can do. You'll have a great time!

We're leaving JUNE 3 too!!! I went on Kilimanjaro when I was 5 months preg with #3 no problems whatsoever..Its like a bumpy car ride.....Obvioulsy I stayed away from the coasters but the safari was fine...don't know about the River ride though I have never been on that pregnant or otherwise...I hate getting drenched and then having to walk around in wet shorts all day...I would rather save getting wet for the waterparks..lol I went to WDW when I was 7 months preg with #2 also and didn't have any problems on the safari then either...enjoy!!!

Did Kilimanjaro Safari at 7 months pregnant but not Splash Mtn. or Kali River Rapids. It was fine. The ride that actually seemed to bother me the most was Buzz's Space Ranger Spin. For some reason the movement on that ride didn't sit too well with the baby on top of my bladder. I was uncomfortable for a few hours after that ride and wouldn't really recommend it if you are that far pregnant and carrying the baby low. Safaris didn't bother me at all though for some reason.

I went to WDW when I was 8 wks and 6 months pregnant. MY OB is a WDW freak LOL and she said she was 7-8 months pg and went on the safari. She did get some weird looks though. I went on both the safari and Kali with any problems. Enjoy your trip!

Hi there I have been to WDW twice pregnant, most recenty Jan 2004 when I was 8 weeks. My Doctor told me that at that time I could ride and do anything I felt up to. Early in the pregancy 1st trimester, the baby is so small and so protected that it didn't really mater. I road Dinosuar, the safari (didn't want to get wet skiped other ride.)

I also road mission space at Epcot. I figured I was sick and throwing up all the time, why not. I felt fine on the ride (and after).

We also did BB, but I didn't do any major slides (other then the kiddy ones with 3 year old DD!) We had a ball on the lazy river.

See count down for due date!
