I have been listening to DISRadio a lot lately, and I have a major earworm- the music from the Jammin' Jungle parade at AK. I keep singing "Mushkinada, mush, mush, kinada" under my breath- DH is giving me the  look. I'm also humming the "Iko Iko" tune around the house.

I haven't even seen the parade yet (it is on our list of must-do's for January) and I am already addicted to the music!!

:goodvibes That's "Mas Que Nada, Mas, Mas Que Nada"

:thumbsup2
The songs are:

"The Rhythm of One", "Pata Pata", "Mas Que Nada", "IKO IKO" and a bit of "Remember the Magic".

About "Pata Pata" and "Mas Que Nada":

If you're a bit younger, you don't know, but these were actually two popluar songs in the '60's and 70's.

Yes, they were played on music stations (not "Top 40" rock stations) around the country.

"Mas Que Nada" was very popular and performed by Sergio Mendez's "Brazil '66" (vocal group).

"Pata Pata" was made popular in the US by Meriam Makeba, an African singer.

"IKO IKO" was
Written by M. Jones, S. Jones, J. Jones, J. Thomas.

Popular performers who have recorded "IKO IKO" are:

CYNDI LAUPER
WARREN ZEVON
AARON CARTER

I was surprised and happy to hear these songs used again in such a FUN parade.

"The Rhythm of One" and "Remember the Magic"
are Disney originals.

The whole sound track of the parade (and many others) is available on a CD found at the parks (and most all other gift shops) at WDW.

Its called "Magic in the Streets".
Here's a link to see it.
Costs about $18.00 at WDW (on-line sellers must make a profit).

And (if you just can't WAIT) here's a link to download a couple of mp3's of the parade to hold you over until you can buy the CD.
(Scroll down to the file that you want.)

Yes, I know the feeling! Seems like every time DIS radio is on, Mickeys Jammin Jungle parade comes on! I have never seen the parade either, so think it will be a must see for the next time! I LOVE the music also!!!

Ooooohh, Mas Que Nada!! That's so funny :rotfl2: - I just thought it was a nonsense Goofy-esque phrase! thanks for the education. I do remember Serrgio Mendez & Brazil 66 from when I was a little kid- my Dad had some of their LPs.

Robo , thanks for the info! I think I'll look for the CD at the parks when we go in January.

well it kind of is. it bascaly means much about nothing.

My youngest two daughters printed out the lyrics and this is all we listened to in the car for about 2 weeks. The track is roughly the same length as the drive from our house to Safeway. We love this music and the parade - my wife actually prefers it to Spectro.

I love the music for MJJP. It is very catchy and upbeat. Now if they could only come out with a soundtrack for the DDCT parade. :teeth:

My 4th grade class did a dance to the "Pata Pata" back in elementary school! I have it on home video. :) I flipped when I heard it in the parade.

This is severly true. I listen during the workday, and I can't stay on the DIS radio for more than two hours, because it starts repeating again. The parade from DisneyParis, the Animal Kingdom parade. Over and over. And I seem to come into the top ten for MC Hammer repeatedly. There is no variety to the playlist, and there is so much more out there.

Probably because they seem to like to stick to professionally recorded soundtracks, instead of some live audio. Which is fine, but there needs to be more. Throw in some more movie audio.

I like the hosts alot. You guys just need to majorly add to your playlist, or like ParkHopper, I'll be listening once every few days.

Wow-only 2 hours of Disney music. We must have about 3 days worth! Most of it is professional CD's but a lot are MP3's as well. Some of my favorites are background music from certain areas and rides.
