AK opening - anyone else experience this?

I hope you get some kind of a response other than the 'party line'- I would really like to know why they do this (especially since I opened this can of worms).

Blessings :)

At the MK....

Don't know if this is standard procedure, but on early-entry day they didn't let any non-resort guests board the monorail until 8:45am from the TTC... all of us didn't get to the MK gates until well after 9:00am!

I hope so too. I will keep following it up until I leave for Disney next Sunday.

If the next e-mail is not a bit more helpful, Len Testa has said the writer of the unofficial Guide (Bob Sehlinger) will ring up on our behalf.

It is so strange because I (and many others - including Disney guest services!) have never heard of this before, even though it seems to have been going on for a year!

I think the only way you would have been able to board the resort monorail earlier than that, would be if you had an early PS inside MK. I do believe that the actual MK (TTC) parking lot opens up at 7:00 am.

I got an e-mail back from Disney who have forwarded my question/complaint (about the AK parking situation) to another department, who will then decide which department it needs to be forwarded to!!

Oh dear.

Yes, we have had this problem twice when trying to get to our 8:00 PS. Once in Feb 2004 and once in Sept. 2003. We are going again in Sept. and would love to help get this solved. Who should I e-mail my complaint to?

Thanks,
Kim

Go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/contact/contactUs

It is not entirely clear which department to complain to. Perhaps start with general questions and go from there.

They did try to fob me off with a standard answer twice so do try to pin them down with specifics.

I ended up by saying either Disney guests are lying or there is a communication problem here! They forwarded my e-mail on at this point.

Interesting...... didn't happen to us in January. We were offsite and were one of the first 15 cars in the parking lots most days.... never got held up.... oh well... anxious to hear how this works out.......P

Hey folks,

We've contacted Disney, and they've asked for the specific date(s) on which this has happened. If you recall the exact date and time, please drop me a line: len@touringplans.com.

Disney media relations says the park's "Main Entrance Team" is baffled by these posts - the parking lot should be open at 7:45 every morning.

Thanks very much,

Len

"Baffled", huh? Not surprising given we are talking about WDW. Any response from Disney yet, Len? I know it hasn't been a long time- but thought maybe they had gotten back to you.

Blessings

Something like this happened to me last year in August. Went to AK for an 8:10 PS, and couldn't get into AK until 8:20 a.m. Quite annoying.

maybe you ought to rename this thread to be more explicit--I read it and throught it was referring to the Opening Ceremony. Maybe calling it--We need exact dates from car drivers who have been prevented from getting into parking lots at theme parks an hour before opening--

perhaps someone who's had more coffee could edit it down a bit

Happened to us too in January. We were staying on-site and drove over for PS at Donalds breakfast. We were the 2nd car in line and had to wait until about 8:50-9:00. We were annoyed at the time. But not as annoyed as the guy behind us who got out of his car and went up to the booth and started SCREAMING at the CM. :earseek: We couldn't believe it! Quite honestly, I think the CM's started to get a little spiteful after that, who can blame them, and held us up even more. We have AP's and they still kept us at the booth for a while "explaining" all the maps, the parking ticket etc. At that point, we felt so bad for the CM, we went along with it. :teeth:

This happened to us twice in October 2003 when we were staying onsite. At AK, we were the first car in line at about 7:00 a.m. on an early entry day and were held at the gate until 7:45. It happened the same way at Epcot on an early entry morning. Both times we were behind huge crowds by the time we arrived at the turnstiles.

We drove to MGM twice, however, and were allowed through the gates immediately (at about 7:00 a.m.).

anyone have any problems lately?? Sept 2004?

We're onsite in Jan05, and renting a car to avoid the late - or non-existent;) BCV-MK bus issues...we're tired of missing all the Opening Ceremony fun in the parks.

We always seem to arrive 20 minutes too late:(

We thought driving ourselves would be better...????

:sunny:

We just got back and had no problems entering any parks early. We are always in the parking lots at least a half hour before opening!:D
