Hello!

I am trying to finish tinkering with my FPs before the 30 day frenzy hits and it becomes (assumingly) more difficult to change things around.

My family is planning on doing AK on a Saturday in June when the park opens at 8 for EMH. Two of us are getting to the park by 6:45 so we can be at the front of the FoP pack at opening. We're planning on meeting the rest of the group at our first attraction around 8:30/8:45 when we are hopefully off FoP.

I would love to do the Safaris at 8:30/8:45, but what will the line be like at that point? Currently we have a Fast Pass for the Safaris around 10:00. But I'd switch that to a FP for the Adventurer's Post M&G if we don't have to use it on Safaris. (Our other FPs are for Navi River Journey & Kali River Rapids). Ideally we'd see the first Festival of the Lion King Show at 10:00 instead of riding the Safari's then.

So what has been anyone's experience with trying to do FoP and the Safaris during EMH? Possible? Not possible? I've tried checking wait times, but crowds are low in May, so I feel like it's not a good comparison to what they'll be like in late June. This morning, for example, the safaris were only posting a 15 minute wait around 9:45 AM, but again...May...not a good comparison to summer!

If you are at the park that early, you should have no problem getting to FoP and then to safari by 8:45 at the lastest. AK does seem to be very busy on Saturdays. But if you can get FoP done early, that helps you for the rest of the day.

Safari is not always open for EMH, but surely it will be in June. I would keep an eye on the wait times in the weeks leading up to your trip to see what the times are like so you have an idea. You shouldn't have much of a wait if it is open, and I can't imagine that you won't finish in time to make that 10:00 Lion King.

I read something about Safari sometimes being closed for EMH, and since then (about a week ago) I've been checking TP every morning. It's always been open, as long as it's accurate.

I remember a few years back going to AK over Memorial Day weekend. EMH started at 7 AM, but the safaris didn’t start running until 7:45. Maybe they don’t run the safari at opening when opening is 7 AM?

Thanks for the replies!

That could make sense, pretty early for the animals maybe? But it doesn't make sense for it to be closed at 8. Open again this morning, BTW.

Safari seems to be closed now. First EMH I've noticed where it's closed. 8:40 right now

Check the attraction times for the day you are going. We are going on the Saturday before Memorial Day and we were wondering the same thing. We are doing the 7 am EMH and wanted to do FPO and Navi then the Safaris since Africa is fairly close to Pandora via the new bridge. I looked at our itinerary on My Disney Experience and went to the AK page and pulled up the park hours. The times for the attractions were listed. The safaris are opening at 7:30 that morning and we feel comfortable about the plan now. I would almost be positive that they would be open at 8.

That should work just fine. My friend and I just did this recently and we were in the first couple hundred people to get to FOP. The line rarely stopped and it's a really cool line anyways. We were done by around 8:35. Then we jumped in line for Navi River Journey and I'd say we were on and off that ride in less than 25 minutes. (Fyi though IMO it's so boring lol I wouldn't waste time on it again nor ever waste a FP on it)

I saw that too. I've been checking wait times on a few attractions to get an idea of what to expect for my upcoming trip :-)
Closed again this morning for EMH. I wonder if it has anything to do with crowds. When is your upcoming trip?

I noticed the same thing. My trip is June 19th-24th. I guess I can see what they do in early June when the crowds start to build, but I really wanted to have my FPs firm before the 30 day window. Oh well :-) I'm guessing the Mickey/Minnie M & G at AK isn't a super high priority FP for most people, so if I change my mind I can hopefully get it two weeks out.

Absolutely. In fact, Mickey just one week from today (5/18) has tons of times left:
10:00am‑11:00am · 12:20pm‑1:20pm · 12:40pm‑1:40pm · 1:10pm‑2:10pm · 1:40pm‑2:40pm · 2:20pm‑3:20pm · 2:50pm‑3:50pm · 3:00pm‑4:00pm · 3:30pm‑4:30pm · 4:20pm‑5:20pm · 4:30pm‑5:30pm · 5:20pm‑6:20pm · 5:50pm‑6:50pm · 6:10pm‑7:10pm · 6:50pm‑7:30pm
