AK in December?

Hey everyone,

this will be my first trip to WDW in December...I was looking at pictures that other DISers posted from their holiday trips and everyone looks bundled up in coats, pants, and sweatshirts....does the change in temperature affect what animals we can see in AK?

I went early Dec (Dec. 3-11) once and didn't notice any difference between that trip and any other trip I've taken (in terms of the animals we've seen). We wore shorts and t-shirts in the afternoons and just added sweatshirts for early morning and evenings. Never needed a jacket.

two years ago we had on our sweatshirts and our jackets from our trip down...LL Bean gear with mittens......we were very cold.....it was 45 when we left our room to fly home.....to me that was COLD.......the steam from the heat in the pool was rising to meet the cold air.......
The animals I think move more in a chilly atmosphere
WE are going back in December this year ...as the decorations are really worth the chill

It may be a little cooler in the evenings at WDW in December. But during the ten or so trips I've made down there I've never noticed any really cold weather at all. Never needed a jacket or sweatshirt. Perhaps I've just been lucky. But I live in Florida, and we've had the entire family over for Thanksgiving dinner, served in the back yard. No problem.

We saw more animals on a cold December morning than we ever did in July, August or Sept. Although, one rainy July morning we saw a lot too.

My most enjoyable trips to AK have been in Dec. and Feb. AK is a very hot park, but in the cooler months I can actually stay for several hours. The weather in FL is very unpredictable. This past Dec., we wore jackets and long pants the whole trip, but some trips, I have worn shorts. Be sure and check the weather reports on line at the Weather Channel.
