Ak in dark?

They don't have evening EMH at AK any more which was usually your best chance of being in the park after dark.

There may be some late summer hours that extend into the night time.

Good news, though. In addition to the Avatar area, there is supposed to be new nighttime entertainment coming. So that means longer (after dark) hours.

"As part of the largest expansion in the history of the park, we’ll be adding all-new entertainment experiences, including a new nighttime spectacular where live music, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery all combine to bring a show to Discovery River that will delight our guests and truly cap off their day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park will introduce more nighttime entertainment as well, including live performers on Discovery Island and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris."

I love that! I'm more so specifically thinking about our upcoming trip in August though It looks like the latest the park will be open while we're there is 7pm with most of the predicted sunsets around 8. Would 7 pm be late enough to at least get some nice dusk while there?

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 the park was open until 7:00 and it was definitely dark! EE at night is amazing! We rode 4 times in a row with no waiting. Finally we just moved on, but we could have gone several more times if we wanted to!

Tomorrow (Sat, 1/18/14) Animal Kingdom is open until 9:00pm.

For the 2008 Disney World Vacation during spring break Animal Kingdom was open late with EMH hours. It was nice as for whatever reason most people didn't show up to that park. We rode the water ride (name escapes me at the moment) 12 times in a row. Literally no one was there. Everest was the only attraction that had something that resembled a line. Considering the crowd during most of the trip we were pleasantly surprised. It really is a cool place to be at night.
