AK Dining: Need Recs

Tiffins is our favorite TS on property. If you want to listen to anyone who orders their steak "well done was overcooked" that's up to you. We always try to fit it, or Nomad, into ever trip.

That said, I wouldn't do it for lunch and then Yak and Yeti for dinner. It's a lot of food. I would try and get Tiffins for dinner. Then do either Satu'lli or flame tree for lunch. It seems the only thing that's avoided inflation is the WDW ribs and chicken combo. I think it's been $15 for a decade so flame tree is always on my best deals of WDW list.

If you really want Yak n Yeti, wait to u get home and go to a mall ( if they still have those) and go to panda express. Same thing
I mean, I order steaks either rare or medium rare(depending on cut) and hate tiffins 😅

Not every experience is the same unfortunately.

We did Tiffins for lunch this past June and it was underwhelming (everyone requested we don’t do it this trip); too salty and my well done steak was charred too much and dry like a hockey puck (we ate at Topolinos the night before so we know what a good well done steak should be cooked like). The waiter just shrugged and said that happens if you order well done (I only ate a few bites and shared another entree). It was nice inside and slow paced but for us it was just ok; not worth the time or money. The fish, octopus and lamb were great though, as was the dessert (in my profile photo).

We always do Boma for dinner whether we stay at AKL or not.

I think this was the most surprising part - the absolute indifference from the servers.

We find the restaurant decor to be so boring considering it's location and those involved in it's design. The food for us was just okay but considering the price we wanted more than okay. We actually ended up ordering several appetizers with our meal FROM NOMAD because the ones offered by Tiffins were unimpressive.

Agreed, go to Yak and Yeti. Been to Tiffins 5 times and never had a good experience. Everything is subjective of course as many people adore Tiffins.

Personally, id rather eat at any of the 3 animal kingdom lodge restaurants (boma, Jiko, sanaa) over Tiffins.

This! When if first opened while the atmosphere and staff were not impressive, the food was good. As time went on the food became unacceptable for the price. The last visit was the last straw and we all agreed we would not return.

NOW WE LOVE LOVE Nomad Lounge and visit every trip. We order lots of appetizers, drinks, great service, great atmosphere and it is hard to believe they are connected.

On a side note .... we all have different likes and opinions but if you say Yak & Yeti is the same as Panda Express .... then all credibility is lost. Now I don't eat at the Y&Y walk up quick serve outside but the restaurant is excellent. Since day one have never had a bad meal or experience.

We tried the Nomad lounge and left our food mostly untouched; the chicken manchurian was so salty even our teen wouldn’t eat it; the sliders tasteless and mostly bread (needed some dipping sauce or something); the only saving grace were the Churros (hot and crispy). The drinks (non alcoholic) were ok, nothing spectacular.

Our well done steak was charred as in had a burned black coating on the outside; it wasn’t just well done as in overcooked. It was inedible. That was a very expensive steak to throw away, but I didn’t argue, I just pointed it out; he did say it sometimes happens (not all the time). The way he said it, he probably thought we wouldn’t tip him well, but we did (he handled allergies well) despite the chef’s mistake.

I'm from Chicago...a decent place for steaks....no place here will never guarantee the quality of a well done steak. Basically because that's not how any quality steak chef can operate. No self respecting steak place ever wants to cook a steak past medium. If u order well done and get a hockey puck that isn't a chef mistake. It's 100% a customer ordering mistake. 100% of the time.

AK is my favorite QS place. I’m a sucker for Flame Tree Barbeque. Good food, decent quantity and price.
I like the food at Flametree. My only issue is its actually too much food unless we split an entree. To have that at lunch and then a TS dinner later is too much food.

If you don't think YnY is the same as Panda then we differ on food quality. I'm good with us having differing palates and food expectations. But I stand by what I said and am cool if people don't agree More ressies for me I guess.

We were there last week and couldn't have had a more different experience. The staff were awesome and all the courses extremely good. We will be back in the spring.
We did have drinks earlier in the day at Nomad and it remains our favorite lounge at AK with no others even being close.

Ouch! Although as a medium rare steak fan I can’t entirely disagree with you! That said, there is a right way and a wrong way to cook a well done steak, if that’s what one likes. Please, just don’t let anyone put “steak sauce” on a good piece of beef!

Double ouch!! This one I’ll disagree with you on. While Y&Y is a Landry’s establishment and it’s not a fancy TS meal….it’s WAY better than mall Chinese food! Did you know Y&Y has an exclusive Personal Selection Woodford Reserve Bourbon? We’ve always had very good meals there, worth a visit IMHO!

I will have to check out Tiffin’s menu before our next trip, although opinions are divided!
