Talking to a close friend who's a cast member at AK, I was told that the AK cast members refer to the 2 new main attractions in Pandora, as Soarin and Pirates of the Caribbean, because that's basically what they are in terms of ride platforms.

You really could refer to the boat ride as any boat ride. It loads and unloads like all Disney boat rides.

As for the Banshee attraction not quite but they are similar. The banshee attraction is a multi-level venue where you don't load on the ground and then are lifted into the air. That is significantly different than Soarin.
