I am debating another XMas trip and saw that the Tree of Life gets decorated. Does anyone know anything about this? All of the other parks have big holiday happenings, didn't think AK did much...

When I was there last year, I did not see the Tree of Life decorated. There is a tree outside the main entrance that is decorated.

I was there for Christmas 2001 and 2002 -- the Tree of Life wasn't decorated. But as Terk-1 posted, the tree outside the main entrance is decorated.

We didn't attend but I had read/heard somewhere that at Donald's Breakfast the Character(s) were in Christmas type outfits ... like a Santa type costume.

Other than that, I can't recall that AK does much else.

That is kind of what I had thought - I wonder if they are planning to add to what they already do to try to get more people to go? Thanks for the info!

We visited at the beginning of Dec 2002 and I have to agree with the others with the big tree before entering the park and I didn't do Donald's breakfast but also heard the rumors of them dressing up. Next time I'll make it a point to go and check it out ;)

In addition though, there were smaller size Christmas trees over in Camp Mickey. The characters I saw Mickey, Minnie and Goofy were all dressed for the holidays but it was Goofy in the Santa suit and it was Goofy's hut that was the most decorated including the big ol' Santa chair. Later we spotted Tigger on the way into the Dinoland area, on the right just before the space where Pooh and gang can be seen on the dock thing. Tigger was basically out in the open and he was wearing a winter hat with scarf.

In Dinoland the Dino that stretches across then entrance was wearing a Santa hat. There was also a large snowman close to the shop by Privmeval Whirl.

I can't remember anything back by Asia or Africa. There might have been but I don't recall anything.

Now what I was bummed about...no santa hat on the MGM EARfel tower (water tower, that is what they call it right? *lol*) I don't know if it is done only for promoting in pictures and stuff or if they normally do put it up. Someone said it wasn't up due to some strong winds knocking it off, now if that was true or not I don't know.

But back to the AK, the decorations I saw were beautiful. They did a great job. :)

I was there on Christmas Day a couple of years ago. There are decorations up, but there are more subtle than the other parks, more natural-looking & the colors are more muted.

We are going back in December! Excited about this as we went for a quick trip a couple years back and felt too rushed. We'll definitely check out AK this time. Thanks for the info everybody!
