AK After hours?

so I am interested in purchasing the AK after hours event for one night during our trip. I was already planning on that being our AK day, would we need to leave the park or can we just stay in the park and our magic band will reflect that we have purchased the after hours event? also for those who have done this is it worth the money? did you get a lot done?

We did AK after dark and loved it. We did Everest until we almost puked and did avatar way too many times
