AirTran?

We're going to WDW in October and I'm considering flying AirTran out of Indy.
We used to fly ATA but flights to/from Indy were discontinued.

How far in advance does AirTran release fares? It looks like fares are out for July. So could I expect October fares to be released sometime in February - about 8 months in advance?

Thanks,
Debbie

Flown AirTran 4 times now and never had any problems. They're no Jetblue but the planes were clean and the staff friendly.

Hi all...I fly Airtran all the time. When I lived in Memphis, they were the cheapest alternative! Also, because I have to fly LGA to ATL all the time for work, their FF program is great. After 8 one-ways, you get a free one-way.

Also, on a lot of flights, if available, it is possible to bump yourself up to 1st class for $35 a flight (so, if you connect it is $70). I find this really, really worth it on long flights.

Overall, the prices are cheap and the service is decent. Similar to others, I have had them cancel a flight on me, but I think that is par for the course across all airlines. They handled the cancelled flight well.

AirTran did buy out ValueJet after the accident but it doesn't stop me from flying them. Reasons being...the accident was caused b/c the canisters were mislabled and no way for the guys loading them to know that so not the airline's fault. Value Jet is not the only airline to have a horrible crash. And biggest being that the guys who have the maintenance contract on the planes also service some of the legacy carriers and other low cost carriers so the same people/equipment is being used to service the planes of more than one airline. I would figure that means you can not assume that the AirTran (or other low cost carriers) plane's are not maintained as well as other airlines. Source of knowing the contract is held by the same company...FIL works for said company dealing w/ those contracts.
