Quick question re: AirTran.

I know if the flight times change (at all), AirTran will let you choose another flight that would work better with your schedule. My question is this... If we book a flight and the times change, will they let us change our flight to the day before?? I'm assuming the answer is no, but was just curious. We'd like to leave on a Monday night but Tuesday morning's flights are significantly cheaper.

Thanks so much!

actually, they did just that for us. They moved our non-stop flight time a few hours later (getting us into MCO late) so I called and asked them to move us to the same flight, but a day earlier. They had no problem doing that.

We then booked an airport hotel for the first night and took ME to POR the next morning.....

Our flight changed by 1 hour, arriving an hour later in Disney, I called and they let us change to a flight leaving a day earlier!:cool1:
It can't hurt to call and ask!

This happened to us in March. They changed our flight time to 1 hour earlier on the day we were to leave WDW. I was able to get a flight change to following day with no charge.

Just a fair warning: Airtran doesn't always change flight times. I've flown with AT on 5 different flights and they have never changed my flight time. I would make your flight plans so that both options fit your schedule.

Another warning. Airlines don't have to let you make whatever change you want unless the schedule change is significant. The definition of significant varies. Some airlines only think a schedule change is significant if the change is more then 4 hours.

Some posters were able to change the day of their flight as the result of a schedule change of only a few minutes. Don't plan on an airline extending that courtesy. At least some airlines are getting wise to the strategy of booking the cheapest flight of the day then looking for any excuse to change it to the flight they want without paying anything extra.

Make sure you can work with whatever flight you booked.

Point taken! You're absolutely right.

I think we'll go ahead and book for the Tuesday morning flight and if we get lucky, we'll be able to change to Monday night. If not, no worries. We were just planning on booking a room at the airport Hyatt for Monday night if we could get a flight that night.

Thanks for your help!

We went with some friends in 2007. They booked their airfare after we had. They made their reservation for a night longer stay. When I found out the airfare was the same price, I was sad that I hadn't thought to stay another night. Fortunately, Airtran changed our original departing flight time by an hour, so without any charge they pushed our return flight back a day. Yeah, we had an extra night at Disney!

I just called Airtran b/c they had dropped the price of my flight AND changed the flight time. I asked the rep to cancel my flight. I just said that the time had changed and we decided that we were going to rearrange our plans and could she cancel. She offered to change my flight SEVEN - yes SEVEN days either way!!!!!!!!!! I told her that since rates had dropped and we weren't sure of what we were going to do I was going to just go ahead and cancel. So she did. I hung up - rebooked and saved myself $100. I always book the cheapest rate they have as long as I am comfortable with the knowledge I might actually have to take the flight.

This is the reason that Airtran will always have my loyalty. They are a great airline, they are accomodating and the best deal in town around here!

Another one here that was able to change the flight to the previous day.

When I called about the changes in our March flight, I was told by the customer service rep that I could switch to any flight the same day or 1 day prior or 1 day later.
