I'm considering using them to book my DD and DSIL for our April trip. They will fly out of Milwaukee. Since I've never flown with them, I know nothing about them. I can't book April yet. Do they only open a small period like SW does? Any thoughts, opinions on them would be appreciated. Thanks.

Airtran is our preferred carrier out of PHL. We've never had a problem with them. They're kinda of a 'no-frills' airline (hence the price). New aircraft too!
Have a great trip :)

AirTran is also my preferred carrier. As far as their booking window goes, they tend to open up their schedule about 6 months out. So, for an April flight you likely will be able to book in Oct (maybe Sept).

If you can get a direct flight from Milwaukee, and avoid a connection in AirTran's ATL hub, I would suggest going that route. Also, AirTran offers specials frequently, so I would suggest avoiding booking at 6 months. You can get a sense of their pricing by watching the fares outside of your April travel period. For example, if you are going to travel a Wed-Wed, for example, watch those travel times for earlier months now and see what their fare specials tend to be.

I was going to fly Southwest, but AirTran is running a better sale for our trip to Disneyland in January. But I have some questions:

1. Does AirTran change their schedules much? I know with SW, they NEVER change their times. Does AirTran?

2. Also, how are they with delays? I know flying in January is risky, but is AirTran typically on time? We would be flying out of Philly also. And if the flight is cancelled b/c of weather, can I still fly the next day?

3. Finally, is it better to book now or later? Do their fares go down or tend to fill-up?

Thanks for any answers! I'm very unsure what to do and some AirTran vets can help me out - I'm a newbie to the airline! Thanks! :goodvibes

We've encountered a schedule change for our departure out of MCO in mid Sept. They took the latest non-stop flight off of the schedule.

One of our flights out of PHL was cancelled due to fog. We were put on the 2nd non-stop to MCO the next morning.

Wanted to post on your thread. I, too, am looking to fly Airtran out of Milwaukee for our March trip. I am very anxious to get everything booked as I just started back to school and do not want to be spending valuable study time watching flight pricing go up and down.

I called Airtran last week as I was getting bummed about the pricing not being available. Rep told me that possibly by the end of the month for the March dates. I am waiting very impatiently as the rates for Midwest are very high for my time frame.

Good luck in your flight serach....
