Hi

I'm an Airtran newbee.

I was wondering what does the online checkin entail and what information I need, when doing it?

I have assigned seats and I will be checking luggage. Also my printer isn't working too well, do I have to print out the boarding passes, especially if I'm going to the counter anyway?

Thanks!

There is really no benefit of online checkin if you are checking luggage. At least at our airport since they don't have a special line for those already checked in.

You can checkin online and pay for your checked bag. You don't need any information except for a credit card. Just log in to your account 24 hours before the flight and complete the process. You can attempt to print the passes at that time. If they don't print, you can have them reprinted at the airport counter.

I sort of disagree with the no benefit as I used to think that too but at my airport they now make you check in at a kiosk before bringing your luggage up to a counter if you haven't all ready -- so its one more step you don't have to deal with at the airport.

Thanks Everyone! I should have mentioned I'm flying out of Philly.

I will do the online checkin, I just wanted to make sure it just wasn't for people that haven't selected seat.

Thanks Again..

I guess this may be unique to my situation. We fly out of DAY. The kiosk is at the counter right beside the scale. So you can't check in at the kiosk and then go up to drop off the bags. You stand in front of the scale to check in. Then hoist the bags up to be weighed, then take them back to take them to the TSA screeners

I would definately check in prior to the flight....we didn't and when we got to MCO they denied my daughter boarding because the flight was oversold and enough people had checked in before her to fill the plane. Luckily someone was willing to be bumped so she was given a seat.....
