Airtran Flight price changes

Be careful when you call that they don't charge you the direct booking fee.

The rep charged me and I didn't know that she did so instead of a $60 credit, I only got a $15 credit.

I called back and they said it's not their policy to charge the Direct Booking Fee when your airfare dropped.

So now, they're trying to fix the problem...

YAY!

I just called and she was really nice about it.

I just said "the price of my flight dropped and I read online I can get a credit for that?"
and she said:
"Yes, we do have a lower fare credit."

Either they can apply it to your A+ rewards account so you use it to book online, or they give a credit you have to use over the phone.

AirTran used to give you a credit for the price difference, minus the phone fee - which kept going up. I am glad to read that they shouldn't charge that any more.

Be aware that AirTran may not have as many seats at the lower fare as the number of tickets you bought. When I got a credit in 2007, there was only 1 seat left at the lower fare, so my credit was only for one person's ticket.

To add one other option, I usually upgrade to Business Class when I get to the airport. The last time I flew AirTran the price on my return flight from Orlando (enough to cover the upgrade). I called customer service (within 24 hours of the flight) and asked if they would apply the difference to an upgrade to Business Class. They did (also booking my seats), so I didn't have to do anything when I got to the airport. While I didn't ask for a refund, I wasn't out additional money for the upgrade. :goodvibes

a supervisor had to fix my problem and of course, they no longer had the lower rate at which I booked but they honored it because it wasn't my fault the rep charged me the booking fee.

I didn't complain, I just asked what the policy was and the second rep explained it to me and had a supervisor give me the credit.

I wish we could go online and get the credit like you can at Southwest.
