our first flight anywhere and the whole trip is with airtran, so have some questions, we are flying from Moline IL to Atlanta, I know we check bags at Moline, do we have to get our own bags in Atlanta and place them someplace for the finally stage of trip? We have to change to another plane in Atlanta will that be a big issue? Will we have to go back thru security at Atlanta airport too? I have ME setup for us to get to Dis. Any hints about how to get thru the process with less stress is very welcome.

Nope -- you will check your bags in Moline and they will end up in Orlando with you - you won't have to do a thing.

In Atlanta it will be likely your connecting flight will be nearby (only once have I had to change terminals and its fairly easy following the signs but be sure and take the train if you need to -- very fast).

So to recap - in Moline you will check in and get your boarding passes for your entire flight all the way to FL. Once in Atlanta you will change planes (just taking your carryon and yourself to the plane) and then in Orlando your luggage will be on your carousel (or not if you are having ME take care of it)

No stress necessary. For any airline, when you take connecting flights within the USA, your baggage is checked through to your final destination, so you don't need to even think about your luggage in the city where you're making the connection.

With DME, you will be sent special pre-printed luggage tags. Before you leave home, you'll put one on each bag you'll be checking with your airline.

When your airline brings your bags to Orlando, Disney will take them from there. They won't go to baggage claim. They'll be delivered by truck to your resort room. After you arrive in Orlando, skip baggage claim and go to the Disney Welcome Center. Your checked bags will be in your room about 3 hours after you check-in. Pack a carry-on with your immediate needs. You'll have your carry-on with you every step of the way.
