When I check in with Airtran the night before my flight, will I be able to see the seats that are assigned for my return flight at that time. I have never flown Airtran and am unfamiliar with their policies. My return flight does not leave until 12:30pm. Does that mean I can't check in until at least 12:30 am that night before? I will be at the BC and was hoping to have the front desk help me with the check in that evening. I did this for Southwest last year with no problem. Is it a hassle to have the front desk do this for me, particularly if I need to change seats? Hope all this makes sense Thanks in advance for any insights you can give me!

Unless you paid for the more expensive seats you don't have seat assignments yet. You can sign on 24 hours in advance of your flight and pick your seats and print your boarding pass at that time.

You will have to do the same for your return flight.

We flew AirTran this past November. We had no problem getting a CM at the Guest Services desk at POR to go online to the AirTran website and go through the seat selection process for us. It's not really a seat selection as it appeared as though our seats had been preselected by the airline (they were all together so that was fine with us).

Just a reminder that you can get your seats/boarding passes 24 hours in advance not just twelve.

When did they change their policy? We just booked flights with them and I didn't see anything on their website that suggested anything other than check in 24 hours in advance. The exception is their business/executive class tickets.

If I can choose or have my seats selected now I'd like to do that.

I don't believe you are the one choosing the seats. It seems that Air Tran is assigning seats on some of the flights.

I have flown Air Tran a couple times for business recently and when I went in at the 24 hour mark the seat was assigned. My company goes through American Express Travel, I didn't buy from Air Tran's website, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. There were plenty of seats still open when I went in.

When I flew to MCO on Jan. 6 my seats had been assigned by Airtran. It's easy to change and there were lots of available seats. You are still not able to select seats until the 24 hr. mark. I purchased the seats from the Airtran website
