It's not a big deal or surprise, glad I caught it so I had time today to pick what I wanted. But it was a "direct" flight home, stopped in Baltimore, and it was the 2:00 pm flight. I was able to switch to a later one with no problem. So just a heads up, check your flights regularly.

how do you check your flights? Do you log in and view your flight status? I'm flying with Delta, I would hope they would email or call or something if it changed? Not the case?

You can not count on getting an email or call for a change in your flight. It is a good idea for any traveler to keep on eye on their flights by logging in and checking your flight status. They can change the time of your flight, the type of plane, or even cancel a flight.

You can check your flights two ways. Go to Delta's site and pretend you're booking a flight, plug in your info and up pops all the flights. I did that today, and my flight wasn't there anymore that was booked. So I called and they took care of another one, simple. Another way is to go to their site and on the front page, they'll ask for your itinerary, put in your confirmation number and see if anything has changed. If it has, give them a call. When I called, I asked if they had put me on another flight yet, she said no. But they had just cancelled the flight today. She said they would have sent me out an email, and if I don't answer it, they automatically book another flight. It's good practice to regularly (say once a week, I usually do it every few days or so) check to see if any changes have been made.

Thank you!! I checked it after I read this thread and my time has changed (only by 15 min though) I did however read their policy on free flight change if its more than an hour, which I hope it does change by that way I wont have to fly home so early the day we leave (or give me a reason to extend our trip )

Your welcome! My advice is call them anyway. Airtran is very accommodating, tell them your flight time has been changed, be very friendly and ask for what you would like. I've done this before and they had no problem changing it. It can't hurt, all they can say is no, go for it:thumbsup2.

It may not hurt to call them anyway. I didn't read Air Tran's policy however they changed our flights today by 15 minutes so I called and they let me rebook for the previous day at no extra charge. Never hurts to call.

hmm.. its the return flight I'd like a later time, I dont that thats the flight that changed. Think they would go for it? Cant say I've had good experiences with their customer service (reason i'm flying with them is the credit I received FOR the aweful service) Worth a shot I guess!

Well in addition to today's change, 2 weeks ago our return flight was changed by 2 hours so I called them and they allowed us to change to the next day at no charge! So we ended up getting 2 additional days ;) We booked the same non stop flight, same time etc., just on another day. I'm kind of wondering if this may be something to think about for the future? Grab the cheap days (usually Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) hope for a fare change and change it to the days I had hoped for in the beginning (Saturday or Sunday) but pay the lower fare. I hadn't planned on changing the days when we booked but when they changed our return time I just called hoping they could. Again, never hurts to call.

I'm flying with Delta,

Airtran is very accommodating,

I didn't read Air Tran's policy
:confused3

Gibsontrio... I fly with Delta but do not count on their notification system if a flight is changed. I booked with them shortly after flights were announced for my dates (11 months out). For the first couple months, I check online about once a month. Now I'm checking at least once every other week. As we get closer, I'll check once a week, and then probably get to every day or so.

Yes, it's a pain, but it really only takes a couple minutes since I'm generally online anyway. As far as how to do it... I login to my skymiles account (I signed up a couple years ago, MAYBE travel once a year, so it's not like I'm racking up the miles), and then 'check my itineraries'. I will be shown on that page (the one that lists flights & times) whether there's been changes... I don't have to pay attention to the times, the website will say 'there's been a change, click OK to accept' or something like that.

For this trip, they've made some minor (ie: <30min changes) and one major (>1hr) change. The major change was the one I was waiting for. Once I saw that, I started a new browser tab, DIDN'T log in to Delta, but did a search for my dates and found the best possible flight. Once I had that, I tried changing my flights online with no fee, and that didn't work, so I called and said the new flights THEY picked wouldn't work, but flight xyz connecting to abc WOULD work. So now, instead of arriving at MCO @ 10p, we arrive at 6:30p.

So changes CAN work in your favor.

Good luck!

It sounded much better in my head than what I typed :lmao:

I only meant the same situation has happened to me and even though I'm flying with a different airline (Air Tran) it may not hurt to give her airline (Delta) a call rather than just go by what their online policy says. :)

just remember if your flight time has changed your seats may have changed as well. I used to fly Delta and almost every time a flight time changed my seats got moved just another thing to keep an eye out for.
