I booked a Southwest flight in December. AirTran is servicing the flight to and from MCO.
We use a blue sleeve from SWA when we fly and we check in at 24 hours out so rest of family gets a good position.
AirTran assigns seats. Since I booked through SWA, I will not be getting my assigned seat until I check in. I am worried that there could possibly not be two seats together so I can sit with my daughter.
I emailed AirTran with this information, but have not heard back from them yet.
Do you think, with a blue sleeve, they will be able to accommodate us at the departure gate so I may sit with my daughter?

you should be fine....
I bought a ticket on an AT ticket thru the SW website for a flight less than 8 hours prior to the flight for a flight this past July 1. They originally assigned me seat somewhere on the plane, I don't recall where, but when I got to the gate... I talked to the person at the kiosk and explained my situation to them and they reassigned my seat. I was on a full flight or very close to full.
They hold back the first two rows that are not business class for 'disabled' guests. So you should be okay unless there are a lot of disabled people on your flight that didn't choose their own seats ahead of time. But I do know that they will do whatever they can to put your with your travel companion and they will still have you preboard with a blue sleeve even though seats are assigned. It was only 5 weeks ago that I flied with them! Good Luck!! :goodvibes

I personally won't book a SWA flight operated by AT through SWA for this very reason. I won't take a chance. I'll pay more to book through AT or I'll book a different flight. I have some anxiety over things like this that I can't control so I couldn't handle having to wait until I get to the airport to find out IF we can be accomodated. I'll always pay more (in this type of scenario by choosing a different flight) to have confirmation that things will go as I need them, in the case of flights that I'll be next to my kids with special needs. There's just too much uncertainty for me this way.
