Just a heads up for everyone travelling with AirTran.

We recently flew to WDW on AT. We knew we had to pay $15 ea for our checked baggage which I did online before we flew out of Buffalo.
However, when we were leaving to return home and checking in and getting our boarding passes at the resort flight check-in desk, we were asked if we had paid for their return.
What???? I assumed that the baggage charge was for the return flight too.
I had to call right there at the desk from my cell phone ($$$) to AirTran,
pay for the bags with a credit card and then give the check in clerk our
confirmation number.

Everyone who was arriving at the desk to check in for their flights were in the same boat. No one knew that they had to pay again for their baggage.

So just a warning to everyone using Airtran that they should prepay for their baggage for it's return flight!

Thanks
We knew we had to pay return before the resort check in desk but didn't know we could do it before our actual trip departurea t start of our trip.

Northwest is the same - $15/bag each way. We knew that going into our flight which is why we were able to travel with 4 carry-ons and save up to $120 in extra fees ($15 x 4 people x 2 flights). Having the laundry facilities in your room at a DVC resort sure makes doing the laundry easier, too.

Question for you - we are flying with AT in October - how did you pay for your baggage before you left? I don't remember seeing that option when I payed for our tickets? Is it when you do your on-line check-in 24 hours before?

Thanks!
Darlene

I'm with Sudwell. I thought that I just paid at the airport. Also, what happens if I end up taking more bags than I originally thought (plan on 1 bag per 2 people but that could change)?

Yes it is detailed on their website $15 each way. You can either pay online when you sign in 24 hours before you leave, or you can pay at the counter. I emailed them a few weeks ago to ask this. If you read up on the magical express it also states that you have to pay for your baggage before you get your boarding passes at hte resort & they have a list of #'s in your room to call to pay for it.

When I went to do the online check-in that is when I had the option to pay for my baggage.
I did not read all the Magical Express info nor the airline baggage info upon my return. My fault totally. I just assumed that I only had to pay the once.
I've NEVER had to pay for baggage before so it was all new to me.:confused3

I just read in the 2009 Passporter that you can call BAGS at 407-285-1231 to prepay for the bags. I haven't tried it yet but will closer to our trip.
