We are traveling Airtran on our MAW trip. Talked with our coordinator and it looks like we are getting seats 11ABCD. Now, since I've worked for the airlines before and took a look at Airtran's website I know this is either window aisle, aisle, middle or window, middle, aisle, aisle. Is this accurate? The problem is we're traveling with a 3 and 4 yr old who will both ride in carseats. My questions is can we put the kids in the window, aisle seats if it is the first or the window, middle seat in the second. At first I panicked cuz thought splitting the kids would be better but then I realized my kids play with each other a lot and side by side might not be such a bad idea. Thoughts? And one more question...Is 11 the bulkhead and if so, does anyone know how much room Airtran puts in their bulkheads?

Thanks for the help!

AirTran doesn't have 'B' seats on their 717s, so that puts you in a 737 with window, middle, aisle, aisle. Row 10 is the "bulkhead" row on these planes, but on AirTran the "bulkhead" is just a curtain.

Check out www.seatguru.com for more info.

You probably should call AirTran to confirm, but I think you can't put the car seats in aisle seats if it would 'block' a passenger not in a carseat.

Thank you and thanks for the link! So can I put the kids in the window and middle seat and then I sit in the aisle and dh across? Or do the carseats have to be at the window?

Car seats have to be in the window seat. Best bet is to call Airtran and see if they will change it OR if you have an itinerary number, go to airtran.com and see if you can change them yourself. You itinerary should say what kind of plane you have....

When I flew Airtran four times earlier this month they didn't apply any of the regulations for traveling with infants. They let you put them anywhere you wanted to. They were very inflexible when it came to changing seats (unless of course you wanted to upgrade to business class then they were happy to oblige). They put DS (11 months) in the middle seat and he threw up on the man next to him. I told them that would happen but they didn't care. In fact, one gate agent then said if I held him I could sit in the exit row!:confused3

Overall, I wasn't thrilled with Airtran as I found the flight attendants and gate agents to be extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. I dealt with gate agents in Rochester, Baltimore, Jackonsville, and Orlando, and honestly I wasn't thrilled with the attitude of any of them.

I won't declare "I'll never fly them again" because I know it's not true, they just won't be my first choice. Being a discount airline, I guess you get what you pay for.
