I fly a lot, but somehow I've never had occasion to use a carseat on AirTran before. It will be my first time doing so in a situation where the airline offers optional purchased seat assignments vs. last-day freebie seat assignments.

I understand that there is no charge for seat assignments for disabled persons who must have certain seat positions. Does anyone know if that no-charge rule also applies to carseats on board + one adult, since those also are restricted by location?

I'll call to be sure, but I was curious if anyone had managed to get a carseat a pre-assigned "legal" assigned space at no charge.

Not it does not apply. You will still need to pay the seat assignment.

If you get one of those $25 airtran vouchers they are giving way..you can select your seats and just use the voucher to pay for them so it will be free for you and guarentee your child a seat next to you.

Here is the link to obtain a code. Just put in your email address and you should get it instantly. Just make sure you check your spam folder cause it appears thats where they have been going for most people.
