Airtran A+ Rewards and Seating Questions

Hello! I just purchased two roundtrip tickets on Airtran for me and my six year old daughter. We leave for Disney on July 21st.

I signed up for the A+ Rewards program, and I *think* I attached my new number to my ticket. But when I tried to attach the same number to my daughter's ticket, the system would not let me. Does she need her own A+ Rewards number? I tried to register her for the program, but when I clicked on the link, my computer kept telling me that I was already registered. Do I need to clear my cookies or something like that? Can 6 year olds join the A+ Rewards program?

After playing around with that, I realized that in my efforts to save money, I have no guarantee my daughter and I will have a seat together. Maybe I should have paid the $24 dollars to guarantee seats for both of us on the outbound and inbound flights? Would they separate a mom from her 6 year old daughter? Yikes! I wasn't thinking when I purchased the tickets.

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks :goodvibes

Each person has to have their own reward #, you can not use your number on another person's ticket.
I am not sure if there is an age limitation though, you might get an answer on that from another poster.
What you can do if you do not want to pay to purchase seats now, you can go in at the 24 hour mark and check in and get your seats at that time, I would do that rather than waiting until you get to the airport.
Since Airtran charges for suitcases, can you cut costs there and then go in and pick your seats? Instead of 2 suitcases just take 1 then the cost of checking the suitcase will kind of offset the cost of the seats. Just a thought.

Thanks for replying so quickly! It eases my mind.

We plan to each bring a small carry-on, and that's it. We are staying 13 nights and doing a split stay between three different resorts (POR, WL, AKL), so I want to travel light. We will do laundry on our resort days by the pool.

Do you think the 24 hours will be soon enough to "check in" and have a seat together? She would probably survive okay, if I was not next to her. But she might talk the other person's ears off.

Maybe I will try calling Airtran to see if I can get her an A+ Rewards number for her flight. It would be nice if we could both earn rewards points for the future!

Thanks again!

The annoying thing about the AirTran A+rewards is that they are identified by email addresses. So my husband has his A+ rewards number with one email address, I have mine attached to a different email and we had to create other email addresses to register our three sons with A+ rewards. So ridiculous!

So you may use a different email address for your daughter.

for my children I had to call and register them esp since they dont have email, they mailed the cards to me. As far as the seats, you can check often and see how the plane is filling up, if it looks like the seats are filling you can always add them, just remember there are different prices and the $6 seats may be gone.

For those under a certain age (i.e. my DD12) I had to call AirTran to activate her A+Rewards. It was very easy.

Yes, Airtrain MAY separate you from your daughter. There is no guarantee that there will be seats together for you at the 24 hour mark, especially if the plane is full. You could be many rows apart. I have seen entire families split up all over the plane.

If you do NOT pay for your seats, please don't expect those of us that DO to move to accomodate you and your daughter. If you want to sit with her, go to your reservation and add seat assignments.
