We are getting ready to fly with two kiddos to DL and need some seasoned traveler advice!

We have made several trips with our DD but it will be the first trip with her and our DS 5 mos. I am debating about taking our double city mini or our city mini single and rent a second stroller at the park. I've never traveled with the city mini double and kinda want to take it to contain both kids. Plus, I'm not sure I want two strollers to keep track of in the park.

Anyone traveled with a city mini double? Worth it? A pain? Thanks!!

We are planning to rent a double because our stroller was damaged by the airline last time we flew. Our kids will be the same ages as yours, plus one in the middle. I expect to mostly have my middle in the stroller, but I want options for the oldest and youngest as well, hence the double. We'll get get one if the City doubles from a rental company.

we travel with our city mini!!! would never travel without it. Great for in airport, 5 year old walks in airport and her seat is perfect for all our carry on stuff.
Gate check the stroller and then as soon as were off plane its waiting for us

At least one airline has a weight limit on gate checked strollers (United?) and I believe the city mini double is over the limit. Somthing to check on.

This exactly. We love it and it was no big deal to travel with.

Oh good, I'm glad to hear that the double isn't too crazy! We love the single at the airport and I had my fingers crossed the double was just as easy.

We love to load up the empty seat as well!!

If you don't want to travel with it I'd recommend renting from City Strollers instead of the park. You can't take the park strollers out of the park and City Strollers will drop off/pick up at your hotel.

You didn't say how old your oldest is, but honestly, I'd get a cheapo $10 umbrella stroller for the baby to get through the airport, and then rent a City Mini from one of the offsite places. Strollers just get damaged too easily during airport handling, and I wouldn't want a stroller as nice as a City Mini damaged. Plus, they are pretty heavy for strollers (especially the doubles) and I'd personally feel bad making one of the gate checked luggage guys handle something that size.

I personally wouldn't put a 5 mo. old in an umbrella stroller, not enough support. Can you wear him in a carrier through the airport and then rent when you get onsite?

I already have a reservation with them just in case! :) Thanks for the recommendation!

I wear him sometimes at the grocery store, mall, etc but he is such a sweaty baby. I'm not how a long day at the airport would go.

I think I've pretty much decided to bring the single City Mini, rent one from City Strollers (and an infant car seat), and call it good.

Thanks for all the help/tips!!

:bump:

One last bump to see if there are new thoughts/opinions. I go back and forth - but today I'm pretty much planning in taking the single. I have all the right accessories (rain cover, belly bar, parent console) that I don't have for the double.

But, ask me tomorrow and I'll probably have a different answer! :)

BAHAHA I do the same thing. We drive to Disney and never understood why people who drive would rent a stroller. I think its the best choice we made. Our stroller is big, bulky and I don't own a rain cover for it. Why try and cram it in while packing when I can utilize the room for something else. We rented from Orlando Stroller Rentals and to be honest I think its the best money I've spent so far on the trip.
