Inspired by airlines you'd never fly again, do you have a airports that you don't like to make connections in or airports that you prefer to make connections in?

Like I said on the other thread, Atlanta can be a mess, so we try to avoid it. O'hare is a necessary evil.

I love changing in JFK when I fly JetBlue which is kind of hard to believe after the last week. LOL. I like it because everytime I've connected there, my arrival and departure gates are really close by.

Cinnci is great too, but I've only flown through there a couple of times.

I love making connection in Detroit since they refurbished it a few years ago. It's so bright and airy, the restaurants are decent, and it reminds me of home (I used to live in Detroit).

O'Hare makes me sigh.

Ontario(CA) airport is my airport of choice, we pay extra to fly out of there and avoid LAX or OC.

Atlanta is a pain, but I usually don't have a choice, so it's a very familiar evil for me.

In Europe, I hate connecting through Charles de Gaulle in Paris.

O'Hare is a black hole of connecting flights!! :scared1: I swear I never seem to be able to connect through there without cancellations and/or delays. :sad2:

I don't think I've ever been there when I didn't have to run through the psychedelic tunnel. :hippie:

I'll take Atlanta over DFW any day.

I've always hated having to transfer in Philly. Charlotte and Pittsburgh aren't so bad (at least there's something to pass the time.... :) )

ITA.

I've never been through Detroit. I've only been to DFW once and that was when I was a kid 1976.

I've heard horror stories about the Washington airports, but I've never had a problem--knock on wood.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I forgot about the tunnel!! :lmao: :lmao:

How could you forget the tunnel light show?!?!? Makes ya just want to light a doobie. :hippie: ;)

For me, its a seasonal thing. In the summer I would be willing to change planes in Alaska. During the winter, I would prefer to be below the Mason Dixon line. I don't recall having any problems with ATL as long as I am flying the same airline the entire route.

Ahh, the memories of an ATL connection with a 2yr old and a 7yr old..and 23min to get to another gate that seemed to be halfway across the world LOL.

Gee...what's a doobie :rolleyes1 ?

Second the Atlanta & O'Hare nominations.

No horror stories about DC airports, my home airports are the Baltimore/DC ones - Dulles/Washington, Marshall/BWI and Reagan National. My opinions aren't really for connecting, but more form a frequent traveler point of view.
I like Reagan the best - it's a shorter commute and the gates are WAY closer to the main terminal. I HATE Dulles, but you have to remember that (as I said) I don't connect there, I have to go through their security ((shudder)) which is usually backed up THEN you have to take those bus/tram-things out to your actual gate...ugh. Usually takes at LEAST 15/20 minutes to get through security and then another 15/20 minutes to get to your gate.
If you're arriving at Dulles it usually takes more than 30 minutes to get from your gate to outside the main terminal and then another 20 minutes to get to your car.

agnes!

Just to show you how YMMV is so true, virtually all of my worst air travel horror stories—touch and go aborted landings, eight hour delays, etc.—have happened in Detroit. In fact, the last two times I flew there I wound up my trip at a different airport than where I was supposed to go. Reagan National instead of BWI once and Newark instead of Laguardia the other time.

Philly, NewarK, O'hare and Atlanta...ALL nightmares...I try to fly non'stop as much as possible to keep the possibity of delays to a minimum.

I always seem to end up connecting to a gate that's at the other end of the airport from where I landed at Miami Intl.! MIA is 8 concourses in a very gentle curve, which means they are closer to a straight line than a horseshoe - if you land in concourse A and depart from concourse H, you are in for a heck of a walk! It happens to me a lot because one of my flights is always international, and is often quite far away from my domestic concourse. I usually don't have to walk the entire airport, but it can happen.

I'll take Atlanta over that armpit known as Detroit anyday!

I also don't fly in to LGA. Period.

And I hate National.

Yup, those are the worst three!
