I need somewhere to stay my last night. We have a super early departure and I want somewhere with shuttle service to the airport so we can return our rental the night before and have one less thing to deal with on an early morning.

Does anyone know of particularly good or bad ones? We are looking at the Sleep Inn at the airport or La Quinta North.

I have heard bad things about the Holiday Inn Express at the airport, but that is it.

Thanks in advance.

If I was you I would bid on Priceline for a 3* hotel in the MCO area. They are all quite nice and all have 24/7 complimentary shuttle service. They book at Hyatt in the airport, Holiday Inn Select, Renaissance and Marriott and (rarely) Crowne Plaza. Prices vary depending on your date, but anywhere from $36 to $42 (we got the Hyatt inside the airport for a night in April for $38). Seems like the Hyatt and the Holiday Inn Select come up the most often. But they are all quite nice, close and have good shuttle service...and the price is right.

We did the same thing in December...super early flight in the morning and we dropped off the car the night before.

I used Hotwire and received the Sheraton Suites for $40.00.

This hotel was wonderful. All the rooms are 2 rooms suites which was nice as we put the kids in the bedroom to watch TV and spread our stuff all over the place in the living area to re-pack.

Free shuttle to the airport.....Great location...maybe 5-10 minutes at best.

Thanks for the info. Priceline says the rooms are for two adults. The one time I used Priceline, we got a room with only a king bed which won't work with kids. Is there a way to tell them you need room for 4 people?

After your Priceline bid is accepted and they show you which hotel you have booked you just call the hotel directly and make your request for a room with 2 beds. In probably 7 or 8 overnights by MCO via Priceline our requests have always been granted. Of course we have never gone the day after Xmas or on New Years eve but a couple of visits have been at fairly busy times...so I don't think you should have a problem getting a room with 2 beds.

Thanks for this thread as it is timely for me. Since I am not arriving until 11:15pm at MCO I need a hotel for one night before heading off to Vero Beach (Disney). Are ressies through hotwire/priceline guaranteed for late arrival? Should I be concerned that the hotel in question may not take check-in's appx. midnight?

thanks

All Priceline reservations are guarenteed for late arrival since they are prepaid. All of the 3* MCO area hotels have 24 hour shuttle service so late arrivals are not a problem. I do call the hotel directly after getting confirmation from Priceline to request the room type we want (i.e., 2 beds,non-smoking) and ask them to mark the reservation for very late arrival. It has never been a problem. It seems like we always wind up riding the shuttle with airline flight crews...I think the airport area hotels expect people to come and go at all hours.

DO NOT stay at the Howard Johnsons near the airport (2323 McCoy Rd). It is a dump.

SB in KY,
I am wanting to book a room through Priceline. Should I call and ask for prefrences right after confirmation even though my travel dates is not until June? Or should I wait to call?

I needed a room for the 12th and 13th before our Disney Cruise on the 14th so I used Priceline We wanted to stay near the airport and wanted a 3 star hotel because I heard that they all had shuttles. First I tired a bid of $32 with no luck. Then I tried $36 and still no luck so today when I could re-bid I bid $45 and got a room at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel Airport
We got our price of $45 for a 3-star hotel room.
My total Charges after taxes is $107.93.
I didn’t want to risk waiting since it is a holiday weekend. I wanted the Holiday Inn or the Hyatt, but I am happy with this.

I and GsMom: it might be a little early to bid for June, but it never hurts to try. I would bid $36 or $38 for your dates for a *3 hotel in the MCO area and if it is not accepted then just wait a week and try again. You can call the hotel as soon as your bid is accepted (actually I usually wait 24 hours or so, just to make sure it is in the system when I call) and then (because I am slightly obsessive about my travel plans) I usually call back a day or 2 before we leave just to make sure my room request and the late arrival are noted. To date we have had excellent luck with the MCO area hotels.

Chrissyt27: I think you will be happy with the Renaissance. We stayed there 1 night (after a late flight in) last year. Our room was quite nice (and a lot bigger than any of the rooms we have ever gotten at the Hyatt in the airport) and the staff were very kind. We did not eat there or use any of the facilities since we got in late and left early, but I don't think you will be disapointed (even at $45/night....it would have been closer to $100/night if booked directly)...have a WONDERFUl cruise.
