We are going to use ME (I hope, never used it before, new to me), to get to POR from airport. We are staying at POR 4 nights then going to SOG. How do we get to the airport from SOG? I was told from someone on the boards that we can't use ME from SOG??

Will Disney move our luggage from POR to SOG?

Thank you!!

You'll have to hire a Mears Shuttle to get to the airport...they pick you up 3 hours before your flight time. I think it was $35 for two people. We used them in August! I would call them a week before or so to make a reservation. :sunny:

You can use a town car service or taxi also. About 8 years ago when we flew to WDW we used a town car service round trip to SOG and were pleased with the ride and driver. I can't remember the name of the company anymore, but Mears is not the only way to go.

Tht's right..there are other options. We choose Mears b/c it was the cheapest but if you have the money to spend I bet a towncar would be nice!! :)

We used a private car service for our trip needs this past two weeks. We had one round trip to/from MCO to POR first and SOG on last part of trip and another round trip for cruise transfers in between two resorts. Check around for pricing, because we found it worth it to have our own car/driver on OUR schedule! Check Transportation board also for more info. Just a word of advice for you: We wasted ALOT of time the few times we had to use SOG buses...Try to use Disney transportation as much as you can...Unbeknownst to us, we were leaving MGM last Saturday night and the SOG bus was not scheduled to pick us up until ONE HOUR after park closing, and that left us waiting in a parking lot that was not very well lit at all! We beat the SOG bus back to the resort area by hopping on a Disney bus instead! And, then to see two SOG buses sitting idling at the resort upon our return! :furious: Then, the kicker was that the sprinkler system was in full blast mode on our walk up the SOG sidewalk at 9:30 p.m. :furious: Needless to say, we enjoy Disney resorts much better...We tried SOG once and learned a valuable lesson to stay with Disney in the future!

It's not exactly SOG's fault that you failed to familiarize yourself with their bus schedule.

You could easily have taken any bus back to the Transportation Center and walked to SOG.

SOG is a military resort and keeps to a strict bus schedule which I actually prefer so we know what to expect by looking at the bus schedule they provide. We've stayed there twice and love it for the size, cost and convenience. And as for the MGM bus you really mean you missed the previous bus and had to wait an hour right? They are on a regular schedule all day and run buses back and forth. Also, we found it easy to walk to the monorail and the ttc if the bus schedule didnt' fit our own, personal schedule.

We are using Tiffany Town Cars, it is 90 round trip.

I am assuming and we all know what assume means. You are staying at POR due to not being able to stay at SOG until that certain date? I would ask if they will provide you transportation from POR to SOG?

I do not know what a one way price is for Tiffany Towncars. Their website is tiffanytowncars

We are staying at POR first because we are going as a group, my daughters are dancing with their dance studio at the Magic Kingdom. We wanted to stay with the group for a few days at POR then with my parents at SOG for a few days. I will have to check and make sure they can move our luggage...does anyone else know if they will??

My sister and mom stayed there a few years ago, SOG moved their luggage to CBR but I don't know if they will do it the other way.

Thank you for your help!

Last time we stayed at SOG and transferred to POR the manager at SOG said no way would they, or Disney, transfer our luggage between resorts. They were very firm with us about that. But, it wouldn't hurt for you to re-check on that with SOG.

Long story short, SOG incorrectly shorted one night stay and we only found out on that day. As a compromise they had a security person take us to POR in their van. We avoided having to transfer our own luggage.

SOG is not a Disney resort and they don't have to transport anyone to a Disney resort or vice versa. They do not, other than buses to parks and DTD transport guests from what I know (the golf cart from the road to the resort is the exception). The value provided by them is wonderful and knowing they are not a full service "commercial" hotel means I don't expect all the amenities one would provide. They do provide a very good and very affordable product though and we have been very pleased with our two stays there.
