Airport Choices

LAX. Absolutely.

I've looked at several of the transportation options from each and it seems that no matter which we choose, we end up at about the same overall cost...

That's odd. The pricing structure for services like super shuttle are very different for LAX/SNA vs the others so I'd check again and go all the way in to just before the reservation is made.

so if you overlay Seattle on to L.A. this is what I see.
Federal way is Disneyland.
SNA is Tacoma,
Space needle LAX,
Everett Burbank,
Issaquah is Ontario

I don't have a map in front of me but I love that.

ONT sure is a hike!

Are you in Seattle? Have you considered a bit of a longer drive and flying out of PDX? Jet Blue flies direct to LGB and we got great rates for April flights ...

Unfortunately, LGB appears to be way more expensive than even SNA right now and there are no direct flights so it doesn't make sense for us. I'll keep it in mind as we keep researching though.
Jet Blue appears to have direct flights at about $110/pp each way in June, SEA to LGB. Just a thought. Heck, I fly from PDX, and I jump to buy when it's about $110 :)

LAX hands down. Burbank and Ontario would have to be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to consider. If you have traffic, it is a stupid drive depending on when you arrive.
I agree - LAX is a better choice.

BUR can have bad traffic during rush hour AM/PM but I-405 by LAX is a disaster at rush times as well.

I recommend not using the 405, but going 105 -> 605 -> 91 -> 5 --- It's a more direct route, and faster, in my experience.
