Hi again. I have never been on an airplane. I am bringing my 6 year old daughter. Do I have to have anything for her such as ID or birth certificate? Your help on this would be huge! Thank you.

Hello, no you won't need anything. I've never been asked for documents on my oldest son. The only time I've been asked for my youngest is when he was under 2 and he was a lap child. I guess they wanted to make sure I wasn't fibbing about his age.

We took my 17 year old brother in Feb. and he didn't need ID either. I believe it's just 18 and older.

Thats a huge relief. I was afraid that they might need something for her with all the new rules. Its my first time on an airplane. Also, I have been reading about liquids. I might just wait until I get to Orlando to buy shampoo, condition, etc.

Unless you are only taking carry-on, just stick it all in your suitcase.

I have never been asked for anything for my son either; I.D. is for those 18 and above.

I was nervous myself about liquids since the new rules were put in place, but we breezed through security -- I just made sure what I had in my carry on fit in to the quart size ziploc bag. I put my hand lotion, lip gloss, hand sanitizer in my carry-on since I knew I would use them before arriving to WDW... the rest I put in my checked luggage. Just a tip on packing them in the checked luggage, you may want to still put the containers in a ziploc bag or something incase of a spill ... I learned that the hard way when the shampoo lid wasn't entirely closed. Thankfully, not too much oozed out, but still, it wasn't fun cleaning up.

I hope that you and your daughter have a great flight and trip :)

The new rules are ONLY about carry-ons. You are still permitted to pack all the liquids and gels you want in your checked luggage, your suitcases, the things that baggage handlers place into the plane's cargo hold.

Check out www.tsa.gov for all the details ablut what you ARE permitted to bring in your carry-on.

I always bring a copy of my DD's birth certificate just in case someone questions me. I'd rather have the certificate and not need it than not have it and need it. Also, my DD is now 9, so this is the last official year she will be a "child" at WDW, so I figure I may be asked to prove her age, espcially as she's a tall as a 12 year old!

No, id is only required for travelers 18 and over, from the TSA website:

"We encourage each adult traveler to keep his/her airline boarding pass and government-issued photo ID available until exiting the security checkpoint (children are not required to show identification). The absence of proper identification will result in additional screening"

and the link to the entire security procedure - its very helpful when traveling:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtrav...t/index.shtm#0

You can also find the information about the restrictions on liquids at the TSA website. In a nutshell you can bring liquids in amounts of 3.4oz or smaller, they must fit in one quart size ziplock and each passenger can have one ziplock.

Or you and pack larger sizes of liquids (shampoo, sunscreen) etc in your checked bags.

Thanks for all your help. I was talking with my aunt, who has traveled recently, and she gave me all kinds of info. I will bring her birth certificate just in case. I would rather be safe than sorry.
