We are staying at CBR and my original plans had our flight departing 10:15 am (so we would need to get ME at 7:15.....very do-able after a long weeks vacation). But I found out yesterday that our flight has been taken away..yes,...as in they didn't book enough seats so they took the flight away. So now we depart at 8:20 aka....5:20 ME pick up. I just wondered about folks who did the online airport check in at resort. Could you do it the day/night prior or did it have to be that morning? We fly US Airways and I know they participate in it. Did you leave your bags out the day before after paying any baggage fees? Any info you might have (good or bad) would be helpful. Thanks!!

Unfortunately, you can't use RAC more than 12 hours before your scheduled flight departure and they close at 1 p.m., so you are out of luck as far as the day before goes. They do open at 5 a.m., however, so if you happen to be one of the first in line when the desk opens you might be able to get completely checked in by 5:20 a.m. and make the bus. I don't know if it's really worth it to try given the tight timing.

True..I didn't know they close at 1 pm...and I don't want to have to be up any eariler then I already am going to be. So I guess we will be taking our bags and getting everything checked in at the airport. heck, We'll be there a few hours before the flight anyways.

Since the airline made the change they should either refund your airfare or book you on any flight you choose, without a change fee. You didn't make the change - they did. I would call and see what they say. If you don't like the answer the original rep gives you, ask to speak to a supervisor.

The other thing that you don't know for sure here is what time the pick up is exactly at CBR - it could be as early as 5 or as late as 5:30 depending on where you are on the route. If it's 5:30 you would be fine sending your luggage on RAC by being there when they open. If it's 5:00 you would be out of luck.

Probably true and I considered this. However, one timing issue to consider beyond when the pick up is scheduled will be that the RAC process has to be completed no later than three hours before the scheduled flight time. As a result, they have to be finished with the process no later than 5:20 a.m. regardless of when their pick up is scheduled. While 20 minutes normally would be plenty of time and I don't see any reason for there to be a big line at 5:00 a.m., you just never know. If RAC is five minutes late opening and/or has a delay in getting their computers up and running, or if there is a line already formed, or if Bell Services doesn't get you to the Custom's House right at 5:00 a.m. (or some combination thereof), you'll be pushing right up against the three hour cutoff pretty quickly.

I guess my best advice if they have a 5:30 a.m. pick up time is to plan to get to the Customs House a few minutes before 5:00 a.m. and assess the situation at that time. If the desk is open on time and there isn't a line, then go ahead and use RAC.

I have found they typically open a few minutes earlier rather than later so it should be ok...of course if it isn't then they just take the luggage with as you said. I have been at RAC opening at several different resorts before 5 and found them to be open early.

As far as the change in flight...we HAD to agree to a new flight since our was no longer offered....but we did NOT get charged a fee for this (or I would have really had a fit :furious::furious:). But the flight they "suggested" had our departure the same...(it was the second leg that they did away with) and had us with a 4 hour lay over. NOT the way I wanted to end our vacation either. So the next best thing was to move up the first departure and in turn we will now be getting home 2 hours earlier then the original flight and only a 45 min layover (to me..the right amount of time to get from one plane to another). So yes, we will have an early start and be home just as early.

As far as RAC...we would just do the check in at the airport. BUT....as far as our luggage...will ME do a pick up of that or do we take that to the customs house when we check out. I'm a bit confused on that. Do we take the internal bus to the customs house and we take our luggage with us on the internal bus? I thought that was a no-no. Or will bell services take our luggage over to the custom house for us that morning or the night before? Just still trying to wrap my head around all this. :crazy2:
