Airplane seating question

We're debating on flying down to Disney this year, and my DDs have never flown before. They'll be 5 and 2.5 yrs old when we go. We're planning on not bringing the carseat for the little one. If she is just buckled in, is there any regulation on where she can or can't sit? If the rows are 3 and 3, I was thinking of doing 3 and 1 w/DH across the aisle. However, I'd want to be in the middle and have one DD on each side. Could the 2.5 yr old sit on the aisle? I think I'd have her by the window on the way down, but I know my older DD would then want the window on the way home. Can that be done?

the only regulations concern the emergency exit rows. Children are not allowed to sit in those rows at all. Other than that, anyone can sit anywhere. If the youngster sits on the aisle then just watch out as the drink cart goes by. There is not much room and arms or legs could get bumped.

I'd suggest sitting towards the rear of the plane so if one child needs to use the lav you can keep an eye on both kids--one in the lav and one in the seat.

Why not do one window and middle seat each row one in front of the other, that way each child has a window, each parent has a child ( we switch parents going and coming) and the little one will then kick or play with the seat of your other DD not another passenger. really solves the window problem and the bothering some one problem. worked for years when mine were younger.

Try Southwest, no drink carts, and there's a restroom in the front of the plane as well as the back!
Good idea about having the little one kick your seat though, wish more folks would do that instead of having their kid kick MY seat!

On many airlines that front lav is for first-class only.

Also - and this is all in good fun, right - I hate the idea of sitting front to back so the seat being kicked is in-the-family. Teach your children well: no kicking period.
