Hi there,
Anyone have any opinion on whether it makes more sense to get a Disney 3 day pass for a child instead of an adult as part of the airmiles rewards.

Here's the thing- I have enough miles for one pass (either adult or child) and I will upgrade it to a 9 day pass after I use the first day on site at Disney. I'm thinking just get an adult pass with the few more points it would cost (and then pay for the child pass and the other adult pass we need)
Cheers

I don't think you save anything by getting the child's ticket instead of an adult ticket... IIRC, it was more of a workaround for those who did not have enough miles saved up to order an adult ticket.

That being said, are you planning on using FP+ for your visit? If you are, you'll need to link the tickets to your profile in order to make FP+ reservations 60 days before your trip, and you'll only be able to book Fast Passes for the number of days on the ticket. If this is the case, it may be better to order a ticket for the correct number of days from Undercover Tourist (with the Mouse Savers discount) and use your Air Miles for your rental car or some other trip-related expense.

Just putting another option out there: I got a rental car from Disney's car care center (Alamo) with my Airmiles . . . and the entire car, including two booster seats, is paid in full and completely free. This, for me, worked out to be the best bang-for-buck for my Airmiles.

FWIW, Airmiles sends you a real ticket, and you receive it in about a week...the time it takes to receive mail.

if your not in a hurry for the ticket they do have special offers on them sometimes. I got a 5 day adult pass for the cost of the 3 day pass. BONUS!
just keep your eyes open and watch. again, that's if your not in a hurry.

When was that? Could it be around the time Disney increased their prices, and Airmiles had plenty of 5-day tickets left in old stock, which turned out to be the the same price as the newly-priced 3-day tickets?

i've seen it twice, only took advantage once. i don't check it that often though. as far as old stock, it would still be a 5 day ticket in value so not sure what that means.

Thanks for your insight everyone- My dilemma now sits with the fact that I have enough miles for a 3 day ticket but FP plus now allows me to book 60 days in advance. In short I would have upgraded to a 8 day ticket onsite but that no longer makes sense as I would need to book FP plus starting now to get some reasonable ride bookings in place (but even if I get my 3 day pass next week it will only allow me to book 3 days of FP plus- this is the crux of it)
There are certainly bigger problems in the world- I will figure something out (perhaps just bite the bullet and pay for disney passes in full now and use airmiles for alamo, or sea world)
