We did this 3 years ago and stayed at the Red Roof Inn. I'm not sure if it still has the same name. It worked well for us even though it was a 10 - 15 minute walk to DL. We were going to ball games as well and it was a nice walk to the bus stop for the games. It was a good basic motel in the line of a Motel 6. We didn't go higher up the scale because we didn't have any more miles.
I've never used Airmiles to stay at hotels in Disneyland but I have stayed a few different ones so I could possibly tell you about some of them. Which ones were you looking at? I went to the Airmiles site to see what hotels are offered. Out of them we stayed at the Sheraton Park Hotel. It was a nice hotel and you can actually get a Disney view and be able to watch the fireworks from your balcony. The pool is great as well. It's about a 15-20 minute walk but they have the ART shuttle that you can take and that gets you there in about the same time but without all the walking. I know there are BestWesterns right across the street from the entrance that I have heard good things about. Anyways if you have a specific hotel in mind I hope I can help. We leave in 12 days for our trip to Disneyland this time staying at the Disneyland Hotel
When we went to Disneyland in October 2007, we redeemed enough airmiles for our airfare from Van to LA/rtn, as well as 4 nights accommodation in D/L and 3 nights in San Diego. The whole trip didn't cost us much because we just had to pay for our food, attraction tickets, etc. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Garden Grove. Chose this hotel because it offered a complimentary breakfast. Nothing super deluxe but every day there was at least two hot items with the usual continental breakfast selections. It easily filled us until noon. They also had breakfast bags on-the-go and we would finish breakfast and each take one for snacks later on. The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable and it was not a far walk to Target for drinks/snacks. We relied on the Resort busses to and from D/L which we caught just a short walk outside of the hotel. A decent selection of restaurants nearby too as we did not rent a vehicle. We were happy with this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.
We are looking at Best Western Hotels becuase of the gift certificate that you can get on Airmiles. Has anyone used these? We were thinking of either the Best Western that is right across the street or Best Western Raffles. Anyone ever stayed there?
We stayed at the Best Western Courtesy Inn on w ball less than a 5 min walk through the Disney parking garage to get the free parking lot shuttle to DL . We used airmiles to buy BW gift cards and used them to pay for our room . a much better deal as we where able to get a CAA discount
