Airmiles Base ticket upgrade

I was thinking about cashing in some airmiles for "Magic you way Base tickets". Can you upgrade to water park and more option with relative ease? Where do you do this and how can I find out the cost now before I go?

We bought my hubby's ticket from airmiles - 5 day base - and upgraded it to 10 day non-expiry when we were at the hotel. Easy as pie! Just make sure you have not used the ticket yet. We did it at the concierge desk at check-in at OKW and were given full value for the ticket we traded.
Check the disney site and look for what the value of your ticket is and figure out the difference between your ticket and the one you want. That should give a pretty accurate estimate of how much it will cost to upgrade.

We are not staying onsite so I assume that I can go to guest services at any Disney park?

Yup, you can upgrade at any Guest relations. Keep in mind you can only upgrade the value, not the other way around.

How did you get the base tickets from airmiles? I have never seen them in the stuff that is offered.

How many miles did it take to get the base ticket.

They are listed under "Rewards . . . Family Attractions. . . Amusement Parks -US"

They have a number of different tickets. The Base 5 day ticket Adult is 2105 airmiles. That is what we purchased and then added on when we were there. You can also purchase the Child Base 5 day ticket for 1690 airmiles and then use the value towards the adult ticket you want. That was what my sister did when she didn't have quite enough airmiles for her adult ticket.
