Airmiles Armchair Chatter

We've hit several milestones in our little group over the last few weeks.

We're closing in on 10 years OH-EM-GEE, where has the time gone??
5 MILLION views? Say whaaat???
2,000 pages?! Rather appropriate that Mel claimed the first post on that page since she was the first to respond many many many posts ago
And now, 40,000 posts?!

It's been a great ride and I'm so happy that you've all joined in the fun. Miles have dried up a bit but chatting about it here makes sure we don't miss any offers.

Time has definitely gone by fast. I can’t believe it’s 10 years here with this group. The other day I was think back to the days when I used to spend every spare minute doing surveys that earned money and I could redeem it in the form of Disney gift cards. One trip I had $100 in gift cards. LOL…that was a lot of money at the time. I had a few side hustles back then and all for Disney trips.

Remember when a family of four could go for a week with hotel, park tickets and food for around $2000.

For anyone interested, I asked the personal shopper for a quote on a MNSSHP ticket, adult, for Sept 28 (so $179.99 USD) and it's 2600 AM

I know it'll come up at some point :D Not that I am planning a trip, I was just curious.
Another nostalgic thought…
Our first MNSSHP we paid either $49 or $59 per ticket. I think the first time I redeemed AM for tickets it was around 1500 miles for 2 tickets.

Does anyone remember or go to the Pirate and Princess Party? It was only one year, which I think was 2006.

We decided to plan to attend our very first MNSSHP this September during our 20th wedding anniversary trip. Thanks to this group I knew I could get the personal shopper to assist and more importantly, what to do when they accidentally assigned them to random "My Name" and "Hubby's Name" accounts on their "profile". Thankfully I'm getting that sorted now, but I got to make a new "friend" on MDE! 🤣

Our quote was for 4900 air miles (so ~$490 CAD equivalent dollars worth) and the tickets the first day I found them online were $338.68 USD (Sept. 16 $159 per adult x 2 + tax) which was approx. $470 CAD on the day they quoted me (May 22). This means they appear to add ~$20 CAD to a quote.

For me, this means our tickets are "free" so $20 CAD upcharge isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things.

When the contemporary resort first opened, it ranged anywhere from $28-$45 per night. Now look at it. 😵‍💫

woot ! I know it should have been the full 500 but I'm not gonna complain because i have NO idea what i did to trigger the Mastercard part of the offer

ETA- I'm a fool, it was a TOTAL of 500 miles and I already earned the 25 miles? Kinda like the math used for online shopping i suppose

Apparently, two years ago I was at Disney riding Guardians for the first time. I wish I was back there! I'm not even sure when I'll get to plan another trip there, so I'll just keep trying to save AM and dream of the next trip. I think I'd even be good with a quick long weekend.
I was like this. Now we're planning Paris with a side trip to Disney Paris. we'll be using AM for everything but food and Disney.

we're also planning a trip to somewhere south so my AM will hopefully go to that too. with the difference in prices now we'll get 2 trips for what we spent for a week in February at WDW
