Im trying to figure out how to avoid having my arrival and departure times changed, or at least the best possibility of it not happening.

Is there a general rule of thumb the airlines use to make scheduling changes? Would flights leaving at a certain time of day have less chance of being rescheduled? Im looking at booking flights at the end of Nov. When would be a safe time to book the flight times I want with the least possibility of them changing?

Ive got several airline choices with very similar fare costs. Would the wisest plan be to check all of the departure/arrival time each offers and go with the one that has the best alternate flight times?

WHEW...sorry for all the questions. But, I thank you for reading them and any help or suggestions any of you might have.

well I can tell you this from being a queue coordinator at an airlines and working schedule changes and cancelled flights. usair does it quarterly. jan/apr/july/oct
so if you bought a tkt now for nov you will be subjected to 2 schedule changes. now in those 2 changes your flight could change as many as 100 times if not more. and then again it could change maybe 10 times and just be a flight number only. To be quite honest there is no way to say if your flight would be severly affected or not. if you bought your tkt in oct you would not have a schedule change on it. but then again you may not get the pbest fare either by waiting until then. if you do not like what they put you on you can call them express your dislike(Nicely of course) of the new flt info and then ask if they could put you on something else that better suits your travel needs. they can then make the change at no additional charge to you for your flight. I would also suggest that you check on your ressie at least once a month to see if you have been affected by any changes.

When I worked at American in res we also did the callbacks on schedule changes and it was the same way at that time.

let me know if you understood this or not! LOL sometimes I talk in too much airline jargin.
