Airlines and dogs

Anyone? Anyone?? Do airlines not even carry dogs anymore? (Big dogs, that is, not the kind that can fit under the seat.)

They do. Go to the individual airlines' websites and they will have their rules on there. They all have embargo's over the summer, but they start at different times for the different airlines. It's been like 6 years since we had to fly our dogs (we were moving 1000 miles). They are golden retrievers and we flew American Airlines.

I've been researching this topic since I want to fly my pets when I move. Since 911, the airlines will not accept pets as cargo from persons unknown to them. You have to either use a pet relocator service known to the airlines or register in advance with the airlines. I have no idea what registration entails. There are many pet relocation services, but they are not cheap. Each of the airlines lists their rules regarding pets flying. Hope this helps.

I'm flying to Tampa for a week and I wanted to bring my Parrotlet, who is is only 5" in length with me. The airline is charging $100 one way, and that is in the cabin under the seat. That's more than my ticket!!

I wondered if something was different since 9/11! I used to see dogs at the airport all the time, but not anymore. Thanks for the info.
