Where Are You All Searching For Airline Tickets? I've Tried All The Regular, Orbitz, Expedia, ect. And I'm Not Having Any Luck With My Dates, March 18-25 For 7. Any Suggestions?

Have you checked the airline sites for your major carriers?

I know Southwest has fares posted only through December 12, 2005--as of last night, anyway! :)

I agree with Taja, check directly with the airlines. Expedia, Travelocity, etc. have been going downhill for awhile, and just-as-good, if-not-better deals can be found directly most of the time. Plus, they usually carry additional restrictions when buying through brokers like that (change fees, etc. are generally higher or non-existant).

N.E.D.

PS - happy 500th post, Taja!

Thanks. I think I'm looking too far in advance. Maybe I should wait until 6 months out! I'll keep watching and see I guess.

No you are not looking to far in advance. We get better deals by booking on the web sites. Sometimes the price are better with the air lines 6 to 9 months out now. We booked four tix from chicago to mco on AA back in march for our Nov. trip for only $735r/t. Now those tix are up to $2500. SWA came in cheaper when they frist release their dates $49 one way but I don't do SWA. Now they are just as high as I paid for AA. check early and check often.

I usually start with www.mobissimo.com or www.kayak.com since they search almost all the well-known carriers. (Not JetBlue or Southwest, and I'm sure there are other smaller ones they don't search.) Then I go to the airline sites from there based on who has the best prices.

We just got a great deal from continental. $135.00RT out of Newark for 5
That 675.00 total. I've watched on Travelzoo.com they give you the top travel fares and then booked. Good Luck!

Try a local travel agent. I'm a corporate agent, and I find that lately I've been able to beat the internet in most markets. Agents do charge service fees, but since you have 7 people maybe you can negotiate a group discount on the fees, especially if you book other things for your trip through them. Quotes are free, so it never hurts to check!

Thanks everyone! I'll keep looking and try the web sites you gave me. Maybe something affordable will come up. I live where we have to travel 4-8 hours to a big airport just to be able to fly!!

I would also add www.stidestep.com to that list for checking prices, they also add JetBlue in their search. Then I go to the airline website based upon my search

Will do! I'm hoping to find something tonight!! Seems like the prices are going up already!!!
