We just booked our flights for a 5 night Wonder cruise out of Miami on 2/12/16. We will be flying from Albany NY the evening before the cruise on a 5:50 pm flight to Fort Lauderdale. We are leaving right after the cruise on a flight at 3:00 flying Southwest. There are four of us myself and DW and two DD's.Price $ 2036.00.How are the airfares for other areas? Let me know how this compares.

I just tried to book similar flights around this weekend, and it was so expensive,....and I couldn't even book the flight I wanted. it was sold out by 7:30ET yesterday, they day they were released!

I sell corporate air for a living. Everything I found was crazy! I could not find a conference or convention in town. Holy Ship! will have already started, so that could not cause the price hike. It is Valentine's and President's Weekend, but it is really strange.

In addition to V-day and Presidents Weekend, its winter break for New England schools (and some private schools down the atlantic).

I have always read it is best to book airline tickets about 2-4 months out from your departure. Prices drop around that time and then shoot back up around 45 days out.

We had similar price issues when booking direct to Orlando for a cruise out of Port Canaveral. We ended up booking a flight into Tampa (an hour further drive than MCO) bc we were renting a car anyway. We saved almost $1000 for our family of 4. Think about checking out other airports...

that seems expensive, unfortunately. Tuesday was crazy trying to book for that timeframe with anything out of New England area. Most sold out 15 minutes into the release, or up to $350 one way

I was able to get $1400 for 4 for 2/14 return 2/19 for our cruise to Port Canaveral. But to do it, we had to fly out from Providence and back into Hartford. Shopping airports saved us about $500.

Our cruise is the end of Feb and I have an alert to watch.....and have been for months.
It dropped from 600 to 560.....I will keep watching for a few more months.
Air is crazy!

We are flying 1/13/16 into Miami for our 1/15/16 cruise and had been having a heck of a time finding flights that were reasonable. We usually fly out of Charlotte, but the prices were awful-- around $275-$350 pp for flights with layovers on airlines that charge extra for checked bags. So now we are driving a bit further and flying nonstop out of Raleigh/Durham in to Fort Lauderdale on Jetblue for $324 total for the two of us including taxes ($162 pp round trip-- woohoo!).

Since its January, we are giving ourselves a bit more travel time, plus flying Wed-Wed "saved" us about $80, which we figured would partially cover a hotel room for an extra night and make our vacation a bit longer!

why not put some other (local)codes in for departure city to Miami...southwest is really easy to navigate and you may end up happy or sad. BUT, it is (as they often tell me) what it is. Aintmuch you can do about it unless you're willing to drive to another airport. It all depends on your priorities...time, money, convenience, etc etc
