Airline prices

We are (secretly) looking to organise a 1+ week holiday in WDW for approximately the end of March 2003. Unfortunately the nature of my job dictates that holidays/ annual leave are not fixed well in advance - I change job in February, in fact I change routinely every six months and it can be difficult to secure holidays. However, I spoke with one of the people who draw up the rota today, and he said he'll try and accommodate my request. My question is how you find airline prices at the moment... I'm looking up the scheduled flights that we usually go on such as BA and Expedia web sites, and the prices are ridiculous or involve too many changes. What have you folks found? Am I missing a good website for air fares?

Also, I see Continental have an ok fare changing in Newark. Has anyone used Continental and how do you find them?

Ta for your much needed information!

I've found Ebookers, lastminute.com and Opodo all offer some decent deals. With Easter being at the end of April, you may find that your dates are not too busy. I've changed at Newark before, it's not the easiest airport to transfer at, but it isn't TERRIBLE either. I've found Charlotte and Philadelphia were both good transfer airports and Atlanta was OK.

I've used continental from Glasgow changing at Newark. It wasn't bad but coming home we had a long wait for the connection.
One thing though they routinely overbook seats by way more than any of the other airlines so make sure you get to check in early! Also my parents were allocated their seats with us and we all sat down to be accosted by 2 teenagers claiming they were in their seats. We found out that they had issued boarding passes to 2 lots of people for the same 2 seats!! I was surprised that that was possible.

Well, I got my rota in today. I should be able to get annual leave at the end of March, so we went ahead and looked up flights. First of all I got a great deal on ebookers - one which I haven't beaten yet - flying BA Thursday 20 - arriving back Monday 31st March early afternoon. I was due to go on nightshift on Monday 31st, so an early arrival was preferable. I nipped over to BA.com and found I could choose times easier and for the difference of a matter of pounds I've got an earlier arrival back in Glasgow giving me more of a chance for some sleep before what will undoubtedly be a horrendous nightshift. Also, managed to change the flights out so that I get an earlier flight from Glasgow to Gatwick and therefore have a more relaxing time in Gatwick. Previously, the flight on offer through ebookers had a fifty minute connection time!! Argh!

So that is booked now; I hope my new colleagues don't mind - too late now, but I was assured that it would be possible to alter shifts if necessary to accommodate special requests...

Also look to have secured a great deal through Dreams Unlimited - thanks, Beth - so we are saving a significant amount of money there. Now all I have to do is organise the annual pass renewal.

Can't wait already! (although I'm still a bit nervous about working in A&E... )
